I thought 338 N 4th Ave was the house on the chopping block. It's not on any special lists and isn't particularly notable for anything, it's just really old.

There's no permits for 357 N 4th Ave.

Pulled the address from the event site. Lol, hope they know the actual address before coming before City Hall.

The Preserve Phoenix facebook page doesn't show anything for 338 N 4th Ave, and apparently 357 N 4th Ave is coming down too.

Great news that the restaurant has been able to relocate. I know its future looked uncertain last year.

Hi all, I noticed you guys discussing the lack of work being done at Block 23. Perhaps it ties to the details Ronnie shared with us a while back? "Schedule: 07/17/2017 to 01/01/2019" Just my speculation.

Just checked their website and downtown location opens at 1p while others open up at 3p.
Went down to The Whinning Pig over Comicon weekend and this sign hadn't been put up yet. Looks awesome!

I'll bet something has changed with the Block 23 development in regards to the height. If so, there may be a drawn out process to get changes approved. If only Fawd would let us in on the secret...

I was told by a work colleague who was speaking with a Red Development guy that the office portion is being increased to 9 floors tall (3 garage levels on top of 6 office levels) and that the residential portion will be 17 floors. Not sure if that's final, but as of yesterday. FWIW...

So what does that make the office tower then? 360'? And same question for the apartment high rise section?

No, I don't think it will be that tall because I think some parking will be subterranean. Even so, not nearly that tall..Anyone?

Confusion still on why RED submitted an obstruction evaluation of 400'. 9 floors or 17 won't come close to that.

Could it be the project is so fluid, the market so hot, that they are taking no chances but to shoot the moon in terms of height requirements should a huge tenant could come in and take a lot of floors? Seems plausible. Fingers crossed.

There's a liquor license pending at the entrance of 821 N 2nd St; that's across from the Velo.

Hula's Modern Tiki

Quote:
Hula's Modern Tiki off Central Avenue likely will be closing within the next year or so.

An employee at the popular Polynesian restaurant confirmed the 1,600-square-foot spot would close next year. Sources said an apartment development will be clearing out space there in the area for parking.
Quote:
Hula's partner Dana Mule provided a statement regarding the potential closure: Should we eventually become victims of the success that we helped create, and have to make way for more residential development, we have plans in place to insure that Hula’s will serve great food and tropical cocktails in this amazing neighborhood for years to come."

Plans would call for the restaurant to open within a half-mile radius of the original location, according to an employee with the restaurant.
