Yes, which is great. Nice to see things spreading to the other areas. As they've been empty since they cleared the space.

Who is "Green Seed Development Corporation"? Their list of projects seems to overlap 90% with 546 architecture's portfolio.

Mark Penner, YouCUBE, 62 M, Bloc_10 are theirs, they do alot of work with 546, id be sceptical of their developments at a prominent location like The Forks.

I hope this development will attract new reputable national/international developers to the Winnipeg market.

546 is (or was) very much the folks behind the Railside plan, so I'm sure we'll be seeing at least a couple of their buildings.

They are contractually not allowed to be the architects for any of the buildings at Railside.

Why?

I mean, I have my own ideas... I think those project designs are too clever by half sometimes, often in less desirable locations (not bloc 10... that one is more tolerable but I'm not sure it will age well).

My doubts stem from their validity in the marketplace, or potentially lack thereof. While overdesigned, I think these projects might suffer a bit because of their odd locations.

That said, the forks is a good location, and probably where creativity wouldn't be as out of place. But they probably know that and would overdesign further with that in mind...

But what's your reasoning?

I meant Greenseed, not 546 I rather like a lot of 546’s work, Greenseed seems to cheapen all the designs though obviously due to budget restrictions.

All the developers are local. Mix of big and small.

any chance there will be 3 bed units for less than $500k? or they all going to be catering to the young adult & senior 1 & 2 bed crowd?

Curiously awaiting which of the proposals seen so far actually come to fruition along with the actual layout of the site.

From the forks IG page, anyone know any more info on the canals they are digging out?

It’s gondola be smooth sailing into summer ☀️ at The Forks!🚣🏼♀️ Soon you’ll be able to take a fun + entertaining lift in a gondola 🌊 to and from your parking spot 🚘 while newly-constructed canals work to reduce the inevitable annual flooding of one of our best features - the Riverwalk.
Like our existing pedi-cab program, gondola rides will be free - one of many services we’re able to offer using parking revenues. 💦 Embrace spring flood season + #MeetMeAtTheForks 💦 😉
