Will it ever be possible to get on the 401W from hwy 8? It is such a pain leaving KW for points west.

MTO completed the environmental assessment for those missing ramps about a decade ago to ensure they protected the land they needed for them from an adjacent subdivision (you can see the land they reserved here), but doesn't seem to have any real plans to actually build them any time soon.

But yea - then stuff starts up in Guelph for the Highway 6 Morriston Bypass work.
Is there any expected timeline for that work? I've been hearing about it for 6-7 years now but without any expected timeline.

work on highway 6 north of the 401 starts this year for a new interchange to replace the two at grade intersections on the Hanlon south of Laird Drive.

The 401 work is probably a couple of years out still.

Two views looking in both directions from the Meadowvale Road overpass. Major construction is undergoing to repair the eastbound lanes of the 401 through this section of Scarborough:

Two views looking easterly from the Highway 2 interchange east of Tilbury along Highway 401. This section of the 401 is currently being widened from four to six lanes:

I survived a London-Montreal 401 round trip this week, followed by two London-Toronto trips.
London construction
Woodstock construction/resurfacing
KWC construction (but of course!)
Milton-Mississauga complete rebuilding
Scarborough construction
resurfacing/lane closures at various points East of the GTA.

I would reckon that 1/7 of the highway is under some form of construction.

It could be more than that? After a quick convo with a friend, we came up with this list of currently ongoing projects on just one highway:

-Rehab in Lakeshore
-Widening Tilbury-Chatham
-Rehab in London
-Rehab in Woodstock
-Rehab in Drumbo
-Widening/rehab in Kitchener (new Grand River Bridge)
-Widening in Cambridge
-Widening Milton-Mississauga
-Rehab in eastern Toronto metro / Scarborough
-Rehab in Thousand Islands area
-Rehab around 416 interchange
-Rehab around Cornwall
-Rehab to Quebec Border

Two more recent views of the 401 from Trafalgar. They have started painting the lines:

it's funny what a difference the line paint makes to make a project look nearly complete.

It'll be interesting to see exactly how they stage the next phase of the construction. Permanent retaining walls still need to be constructed beneath the bridges at both the 407 (adjacent to the westbound lanes), as well as through James Snow (adjacent to both lanes), so they'll still need some space adjacent to traffic for contractors to work over the course of the next few weeks and months at both of those locations.

Drove the 401 twice this week from London->416 to Ottawa and back. Last night, there were many traffic jams, beginning from Trenton onwards. Added at least 2 hours to the journey. Sunday fucking night. I hate this highway.

you got caught in cottage traffic, you shouldn't be surprised by that on a Sunday night.

Yep.

Did the drive from Markham to downtown last night at 7 and had to sit around the 404/401 interchange for maybe 15 minutes simply due to traffic. Happens.

Long weekends are far worse for sunday night traffic.
