It's not available online anywhere, you have to go to their offices. But according to the article it was unanimous, so it wasn't just Wyatt.

.....our own little mini-boom.
Health Sciences isn't downtown. So, there's only two tower cranes. Who knows when One Portage and Main is starting.......

That is why I bolded "and area" because when I come over the Disraeli I can clearly see the 3 cranes for HSC and the skyline at the same time.

My apologies for overlooking that. I didn't have my morning coffee yet at that point.

Here's another articel, from the Sun, on the Terracon developemnt.

http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/10/0...ss-in-winnipeg

A developer with plans to add affordable housing in North Winnipeg said the cost of initial city requirements for his subdivision would have doubled the price of its homes.

"How many more $600,000 homes do we need in Winnipeg? ... (With) all this roadwork, I can't afford to produce a $300,000 house anymore," said Michael Falk, vice-president of Terracon Development Ltd.

$300,000 is considered affordable housing? Lol How many people can afford that?

The median Winnipeg household income in 2011 was $74,040, so at current mortgage rates, a 25 year amo term and 5% down, the median household would qualify. So half of Winnipeg's households could afford that. But I agree its a stretch calling that affordable housing.

People were up in arms about a $10K incentive to move downtown. This sure looks to me (granted that Falk is likely exaggerating) like a $300K incentive to move to Jefferson at King Edward.

lol that's an excellent point. Wonder what councils response to that would be. Cancel a $10,000 incentive to move downtown but approve a $300K one to move into the suburbs

I totally agree! While I'm somewhat biased as I've bought in the Exchange, I just shake my head in over this Terracon situation.

This is likely no different then all the other suburbs out there but the numbers were so cut and dry from the EPC meeting:

- Traffic in the area will increase 600% as a direct result of the suburb
- This requires King Edward to be upgraded
- Falk wants to only pay 50% of the upgrade, otherwise he'll have to add $300K to the cost of his homes (for that and some other items)

It's out there in the public, hopefully more people see that we can't keep doing this. Normally these costs are more hidden and indirect, this one just seems so spelled out and obvious.

apologies if we've seen some of these before... Stantec is designing the "signature elements" that will define the area. interesting that Hargrave appears to be closed in these images and that much of City Place has entrances on the street.

also, from the website:

Quote:
Our team is designing the signature elements that will define this area. Paving materials, custom street lighting, and signage will create a vibrant atmosphere, day or night. A wayfinding system will create landmarks to guide people through the SHED. Wider sidewalks and reduced drive lanes will slow cars, increasing safety and pedestrian traffic to the cafes and shops that will line the street.

Some nice renderings, good on them for actually showing one in winter! Except they forgot all the sand and dirt.

Hargrave is to be a convertible street. Open to traffic most of the time, closed for some events.

Has to be open to at least the parking lot entrance / exit from City Place. Between the city 311 and MPI data center there are a number of staff that park inside @ City Place 24/7/365.

I don't mind the reverse flow they do with Jets games or concerts.

took these goin for a walk the other day... looks like the restaurant has had a lot of work done, sign up already. i love this building, going to look awesome surrounded by trees in fall and summer.

does anyone know if the 'levels' (other than the root) on the backside here are going to have plants on them? it would do a lot to break up the massive wall!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's only for the half block north of the parkade and the block north of Graham. It's on one of the Centreventure maps somewhere, IIRC.

Yup, great shots but the three little icons are identical!
