It's interesting to see the big differences in Main GS design compared to older renderings.

Thanks for the pics. I hope the "canopy" style top for the grandstands ends up looking better. Right now it looks kind of dingy and saggy -- and it appears they are trying some kind of rigging up there. Maybe to give it a more taut look? I'm also not a fan of that red railing on the seating above the pit building. It looks too thin and unsubstantial. And the bottom is all messed up... hopefully that will be trimmed off or something.

What I do like though is that red-gray-white color scheme on the grandstand. Looks good. If they can't get a "bright white" on the canopy, maybe they can make it gray.

Yeah, someone else on another board today commented on the look of the canopies. I hadn't noticed it until he mentioned, but...

My other big beef is the red piping on the outside of the main GS and on the Mystery Tower. To say I don't care for MRA's designs would be an understatement.

Here's what's listed on their website:

P.O. Box 849 Austin, TX 78767

They also have a physical address for the circuit that has changed once or twice. Don't know what it is now.

The permits and the Formula Run info list the address now as:

9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd

Also, if you ever have a lot of free time, check out the documents attached to this permit: https://www.austintexas.gov/devrevie...erRSN=10677407

I think it has basic plans for everything on the track. But it's hundreds of documents. The tower is probably in there somewhere, but I haven't found it. I did find the main GS, part of the ampitheater, and both pedestrian bridges in there. BTW Miro Rivera designed the pedestrian bridges, too.

OK, so it's not just me. Good.

I'll be out there tomorrow and I'll try to get some different angles on this.

Governor to take economic development trip to Italy, attend F1 race
By Dave Doolittle | Friday, August 31, 2012, 04:49 PM

Gov. Rick Perry and First Lady Anita Perry will travel to Italy next week to meet with several business and government leaders and attend a Formula One race near Milan.

Perry will also participate in the Ambrosetti Forum, an annual global economic development conference, according to a statement from his office.

Perry will meet with government officials from the Milan area and Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo, the statement said. He will also attend the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit scheduled for Sept. 9.

Perry was instrumental in helping secure a grand prix scheduled for November at a racetrack under construction in southeastern Travis County.

Why are there no stands around turn 1 when it seems to be the best seat in the house? Also did they decide to remove some of the grandstands as well as it seems like only half what it should be. Looks like they are going to only have the bare essentials done for the first race. Was thinking of going the second year when things are calmer and more finished.

I think the track is looking great. Im pretty sure they are not finished putting up all of the grandstands. Give it another month and you will see the circuit grounds looking a lot more polished.

COTA says 3 Del Valle Job Fairs were poorly attended. Community says "Job Fairs? What Job Fairs?" Nobody knew.

No list of Prohibited Items for at least one more month.
