I imagine this perspective will look a whole lot different in six months time.

If you look carefully behind that mound of dirt, you can see part of the concrete foundation work.

Would the fence line be parallel to Weldon Street? If not, how far back would Weldon be? I don't recall, but are there plans to take down the old Sobeys?

Close to, but a little set back from Weldon.

The old Sobeys is still there. The land still belongs to Crombie. They must have some plans for it. Personally, I think they might be planning on integrating it in some way with the adjacent terminal plaza complex. It could be a good opportunity for a parking structure, but that's pure speculation.

It's been a few years, but is Foundry Street (Highfield Sq side) still a little run down looking with the concrete retaining wall and not so pleasing attempt at horticulture? If so, has this been mentioned in "brightening up" with the EC project?

It's still the Concrete wall with what looks to be chicken wire attached to it, and Graffiti. There are also some poor looking plants. I do hope that they fix it up but nothing was said.

Also hope they fix up the Subway tracks they are deteriorating, and are becoming both an eye sore, and a safety issue.

Nice.

Could a Mod edit the original post to add the Webcam link, so it won't be lost in the pages since then?

Can't wait to see that start growing in the weeks/months to come.

Has anyone else noticed that when they drive by the area with the cement they are currently installing seems very small? Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem very big.

It's just as big as it's supposed to be.

I imagine the deceivingly small size of the footprint is because you are comparing it (subconsciously) to the existing Coliseum/Agrena, where most of the space is actually part of the Agrena/trade show space and not the arena. It would be more appropriate to compare the new events centre to the Metro Centre in Halifax, or to Harbour Station in Saint John.

And as per Taeolas' request re: the webcam, I will add the URL to the 2nd post on page one of this thread. So now everyone will have a convenient place to find it if they want to check on progress........

Do they still have the crane at the Dumont? I was hoping we'd have 2 cranes in the city at once!

Was there any Sod in there to start with?

Maybe they should've had an Asphalt turning event.

Screen grab from the webcam at the events centre site. The foundation work clearly outlines the footprint of the building. You can also get an impression of what the size of the plaza will be out front.
