I love it. I think it's the perfect use of that lot and will compliment the Sundial Tower quite well.

Fully agree, the building’s absolutely gorgeous. Not only does it compliment the sundial tower well but also the south west temple tower and courthouse just down the street. They’re all almost like sister projects in terms of design, which I must say I’m a massive fan of

Can you imagine if all ugly new mid rise apartments going up all over the valley looked like this?

SkyscraperPage, of course!
https://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?cityID=90

Click "view with proposed" to see it with Astra.

I love looking thought the city diagram pages, even though many are outdated or lacking drawings for significant towers.

I agree with what others have said. This looks like a thoughtful design and I appreciate the apparent nods to it's surroundings. Nice work Orlando!

I had no idea that that would be made public now, but I did overhear that they were going in for Design Review. So, because of that, it had to be submitted through the publicly accessible portal. Nice digging whoever found it. To be honest, I've had very limited involvement with it. I've only been copied on coordination stuff, and I've seen the previous versions. The design is by Gensler. FFKR is the local architect.

Yeah, at 344 feet tall, Sundial is just 9 feet shorter than One Utah Center, just 51 feet shorter than 95 State, and 9 feet taller than Worthington Tower.

If it were to be added to the skyline today, it would be listed as the 7th tallest building in the city.

So Sundial really is a relatively large building for Salt Lake, both in width and height.

465 South Main looks like it's going to be a nice neighbor for the Sundial. Now that we have actual renders for both projects it would be awesome to see them photoshopped together!

Going, Going, Gone! Homes Are Selling the Fastest in These Markets By Elena Cox
https://www.realtor.com/news/trends/...s-blogs_trends

#1 Ogden

Ogden’s historic 25th Street is magical in the winter, but nature lovers can enjoy the outdoors year-round.(Getty Images)

Median list price: $489,950
Median days on market in April: 8

The fastest-moving market on our list was Ogden, a mountain town less than 40 minutes north of Salt Lake City. It offers easy access to ski resorts like Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, and Nordic Valley, and has even more outdoor activities during the summer, including hiking, mountain biking, and fishing.

But it’s not just the great outdoors that’s luring out-of-state buyers from places like California and Arizona. A strong economy means it’s easier for people to find jobs and potentially relocate. The unemployment rate in the Ogden metro area was just 2.7% in March, according to the U.S. Labor Department. That’s back to what things were like before the pandemic, and significantly lower than the national rate of 6%.

While nonlocals are scooping up homes at a rapid pace, that’s not the whole picture, says Christopher Collard, a research analyst at the Utah Foundation, a nonprofit research organization based in Salt Lake City.

The number of homes available has been low since Great Recession in 2008. Meanwhile, fewer people are leaving the state, while more people are coming in, so there are more people vying for houses than ever before.

“We’ve never quite caught up with the current demand,” Collard says.

I was trying to find more out about bike lanes and I came across this website showing the S-Line streetcar being extended North to 400 S. It has to just be really outdated or something, right? It looks like it would have gone past 9th & 9th!

Couldn't figure out how to make the pic smaller and here is the WFRC website I found it on

WOW! Great resource! It isn't necessarily too out of date, since the costs are all estimated in 2019 dollars.

The site also includes the estimates for the southbound option for S-Line extension to Millcreek.

I think WFRC is just showing all the options on the table and what they are projected to cost. This could be very useful for state legislators if they ever decide to better fund transit.

Any movement at the Worthington site? I recall that the tenants were supposed to be moving out in May.

I was wondering if any of you remember what the height will be on the taller of the two Brinshore Towers on State?

At 13 stories it was going to be 160 feet.

WFRC does long-range visions. Any projects they mention that aren't explicitly funded already are just that - visions. They are guides that cities and counties can choose to follow or use as guidelines, or just ignore if they really want to, although if something makes it on a WFRC plan that means it is likely at least being considered. Whether it's being considered seriously enough for them to follow through on it is another story.

There's an RDA meeting today at 2:00pm with some items that might be of interest to us. First of all, there will be an update on the 650 Main TRAX station. Second, it sounds like the RDA is in talks with the U to create an "Innovation District" at Station Center. They also still consider the Rio Grande Depot as a "barrier to development" that will "require more active programming."

Quote:
The Board will receive a briefing about the Station Center Innovation District concept. Station Center is located between 500 to 600 West and 200 to 400 South in the Depot District project area. The Innovation District concept would be anchored by the University of Utah for technology development, from research to start-up incubators to mature profitable businesses. As part of the briefing, the Board will also receive a pre-disposition report that includes preliminary information prior to marketing the property.
More details here. Apparently the U is already under contract to purchase land:

I also expect the "Save the Pantages" group to show up and make negative comments about the RDA, so it might be an interesting meeting.

I don't get to use this nearly enough:
