Ya they've been working on it for a while now. I was thinking they would have it closed in for winter. but seemed they paused work in the fall again and it sat open without the glazing on. Haven't been by in a few weeks. But I'd assume it's closed in by now.

Save on foods was closed in but the interior was barren. They still had the heating system coming out the side doors at ground level. So seems still a lot of work to be done in there.

Main Street Costco

Details of the newest Costco can be found deep in these documents. It doesn’t name Costco as the main tenant of this business park, but the building shape and the attached gas bar are giveaways. West St. Paul is on a real development tear these days.

I can tell you 101% it’s happening. Costco is definitely coming to north main.

Costco West St Paul should start in late spring. The St James Costco is slated to start conversion to a Business Centre upon completion of the West St Paul site. The WestPort/Assiniboia Downs site had issues that might cause a change of location.

Is this the same level of confidence people have had for other Costco sites in the past?

Not sure exactly what is happening at WestPort but before the snow they had a major project stripping all the top soil off the site. Normally spending money doing something like that is a sure sign that some sort of development is starting soon.

It feels like these rumours about a new Costco have been floating around for at least a decade now...

And the plans for the WestPort Costco were posted on here.

Until the shovel is in the ground on these Costco projects it seems best to classify them as more "rumor" than "fact".

Residential is going west of the tracks. Costco is east of the tracks.

Yep exactly. It’s happening. I live in west St. Paul. It’s already gone through council. The land was bought directly from the developer.

Council already approved the meadowlands/riverdale west plans. It’s retail between the tracks and Main Street (Costco), and residential between rail and mcphillips.

Property may be developed in phases, access road to be built in 20201

Looks like they won't start building this thing for another 18,000 years.

Costco's new free same-day delivery is absolutely fantastic. I never go to Costco because it is actually my version of hell, but they have so many great products you can't find anywhere else...

What are the chances they abandon some of these expansion plans with the rapid shift to delivery, do they even need 2 more Winnipeg area locations now?

I regularly go to Costco with my wife who just loves the place. I also detest stepping foot in the store but agree with you about the products. Every time I am there it is a madhouse. It seems like they need a new physical location in my opinion. Even before COVID when we went to the ones in the U.S., it always seemed the Winnipeg locations were usually way more crowded. Fargo especially seemed to have very few people inside.

We shop @ the Regent Ave Costco and have a Disabled Parking Permit and its usually impossible to find an empty Disabled Parking spot at that location because the store is so busy.

Didn't they just expand that lot too?
