Don't think the changes are loaded yet. Doing dummy bookings on WS I still just see the 5x weekly (days x67) that were previously existing.

Quite the increase on that route compared to last winter when it was just a single Porter E2.

Remember that AC does not fly this route, so PD and WS are duking it out for passengers.

I am wondering if WS will also increase the YWG-YOW route as well, but given AC flies it daily year-round and all three of AC, WS and PD service it, I don't know if that will happen. I guess it will depend on if demand is sustained.

up to 11x weekly on WS to YEG? And potentially 2x Porter to YEG (currently 2x is bookable, but perhaps that will shift to 1x).

That's A LOT of seats in the winter between two spokes. The YOW-YEG departure is pushed back to 20:10... doesn't catch a lot of WS connections in YEG. Funnily enough, AF codeshares on the YOW-YEG leg, and you can book CDG-YOW-YEG with a 5 hr layover on AF's site.

No wonder AC has stayed out of the YEG-YOW route... a lot of players / saturation.

I still don't think WS has updated the schedule for this - I still just see 5x weekly Mon-Fri when doing dummy bookings, even around the Christmas season.

They said the flights will be bookable when the full winter schedule is released. No idea when that'll happen though

AF has made some cuts to the winter schedule out of YOW. Originally was loaded in daily all season on a 777-200.

Oct 27-Dec 7: 4x weekly (days 2467)
Dec 8-14, Jan 5-Mar 29: 5x weekly (days x15)
Dec 15-Jan 4: daily

Still seems to be served exclusively by the 777-200. Still wouldn't be surprised if the January/February gets cut further as we get closer to the dates as last winter there were the occasional cuts.

I'm not surprised and good to see a match between capacity & demand at that time of year, including still daily over the XMAS peak.

Which config of 772 are we getting? If it's the 312 seater, then capacity vs the 5 weekly 789 last November is about -155 seats/week.

This past January AF went as low as 3x weekly for a couple of weeks, so 4x weekly would actually be a slight bump up.

Today's departure count, which includes PD's inaugural to YYT, could be a post-March 2020 record (currently 81 multiple times).

Today’s departure count: 83

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 1

Will need to check the FIDS again later tonight to see if anything else cancels. Lately on some days, some AC codeshare flight numbers on showing up the row below/above the actual UA flights. Those codeshares are not part of today's current count of 83.

AF is "optimizing" the 772 fleet this summer to a single config, so 328 seats actually. 28J, 32PY and 268Y.

Fitting that the record is broken on the day PD completes their 2024 summer schedule for the E2s. Hopefully announcements for this winter comes soon. No surprise nothing was announced this week as Deer Lake began Tuesday and YOW-YYT today (I believe they've done announcements on Thursdays occasionally as well).

Ah ok. In that case it's a loss of 77 seats/week per direction at 4x vs the 789 at 5x last November.

Still holding at 83 as so far the thunderstorms and heavy bands of rain haven't caused any additional cancellations.

Unless I missed something late last night, 82 is the new benchmark and it could get broken again today:

Today’s departure count: 84

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 1

Porter had a YVR-style house party last night: https://www.travelweek.ca/news/inter...s-house-party/

Quote:
“We’ve built out Ottawa to be a strong east-west connecting hub for Canada and now down into Florida as well,” explained Jackson. “You’ll continue to see us expand our destinations out of Ottawa through the next several years. We’re currently up to 16 nonstops out of Canada’s capital, in 2023 we served about 750,000 passengers. This year that will grow to two million passengers and will be even higher next year. By this summer, we will be the largest carrier out of Ottawa based on flights and seats in the market.”
As an aside, still at 84 departures on the day.

Seems like a sweet venue at Zibi. Would’ve also been cool to have a massive party at the new hangar…obviously more complicated to do that though.

Definitely they would but it’s tough to get noticed stuck in between the two juggernauts. It’s actually the one Euro destination that is within E95 range and PD do have an interline agreement with FI. Upgrading that to a full codeshare would be interesting.

Yesterday was the new COVID era departure count benchmark with 84 - and that’s before AF starts flying here on Fridays.

Today’s departure count: 67

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 1

Flights to Iceland would be amazing from Ottawa. If Porter could significantly undercut AC's seasonal out of MTL, we could see the first ever reverse flow from YUL. I know people who drive from Ottawa to Hamilton to get cheap Play flights to KEF.

I really miss that WOW Air flight from YUL.
