The parking deck actually looks kind of good to be honest.

Yes it really does, I thought it was another building at first.

A rendering of the new ballpark. It will have a very large roof to provide more shade.

The boulevard leading up to the stadium;

Link to more renderings.

However, if they don't have easy access and ample, convenient parking, they may as well stayed where they are.

I didn't know there was a wait on this, but apparently University House is about to get crackin.

Apartment Tower For GT Students Is About To Go Vertical

Hellbent on proving that college life isn't what it used to be, Inland American Communities Group held a groundbreaking this week to officially launch their 19-story tower geared toward Georgia Tech students. New renderings show the width of the tower and its 10,000 square feet of retail fronting Spring Street, near the Cheetah strip club, and a pimped-out pool area with a massive outdoor television. Dubbed "University House Midtown," the project will offer 268 apartments (706 beds) and is slated to open in time for the 2015 school year, though pre-leasing begins this summer.

Monday night football: Falcons hold ground-breaking ceremony

The footprint of the Atlanta Falcons' new stadium has been cleared in the area next to the Georgia Dome.

Although work on the stadium site began earlier this year, the Monday, May 19th event will mark the ceremonial kickoff of the construction job. The 8pm invitation only event will feature NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodall, Falcons owner Arthur Blank, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber and Georgia World Congress Center Authority executive director Frank Poe.Because of the work already underway, the ceremony will take place at International Plaza, located between the Georgia Dome and Philips Arena — just east of the new stadium site.

The $1.2 billion-plus, retractable-roof stadium, which will be home to Atlanta’s MLS team as well as to the Falcons and other marquee events, is scheduled to be completed by March 2017.

New rendering of the State Farm Dunwoody campus. Excellent job integrating with existing transit. More here.

You sir know little about ballparks if you think that they should be symmetrical.

Are all MLB stadiums grass rather than artificial turf?

Montreal and Houston had turf but Montreal moved eventually to Washington and Houston got a new park with grass

True, but a lot of the "forced" charm of the more recent ballparks is irritating too. The jagged outfield fences and weird nostalgic features get ridiculous sometimes. The Green Monster was built due to lack of expansion space - not on purpose. Next thing you know they will be adding support poles that block sight lines just for the fun of it.

Which makes baseball great, the ballparks are all different. The other major sports, the playing surface and shape and size are all the same. Baseball is free to confound it's confines.

I think the new stadium is well-deserved. Turner Field was built initially as the Olympic Stadium and was NOT technically built to be baseball-specific. It was baseball-adapted. All the newest, most successful stadiums to be built since Camden Yards set higher standards league-wide have been marked by neo-traditional architecture (excepting Miami of course), quirky decorative flourishes, and a pampered, amenity-rich fan experience. Considering how strong and widespread of a fan base the Braves have, they deserve a stadium designed just for them.

Regarding the issue of distance...aside from being in a different direction, it's no further away from Downtown/Midtown than the Perimeter Center, and in a metro that's as widespread as Atlanta's, that's not tremendously far-flung. With all the redevelopment in the core of the city, Turner and it's rampant parking lots could be put to far better use.

Good potatoes all around.

Great renders. 2014 has been a dream year for Atlanta development announcements so far.

The prevailing trend in MLB Parks is away from cloying historicism-- Newer parks like Petco in San Diego, Nationals Park in DC, The Twins Stadium in Minneapolis or even San Francisco are basically modern-- as is, of course, Miami. I like the new Ballpark's design-- though I detest the location and its isolated instant 'urbanism'--

I really like this project and am glad they added appartments.

This, along with the Post and Paces Property projects and others, is bringing downtown residential to a tipping point.
