Went on FR24's playback feature and indeed C-GZQK was the aircraft that hit the fence and looks like it was using gate 27.

Cool feature. On one of my trips to YYC last year via WestJet, we used gate 27 without issue.

I wonder if Porter is in-house ground handling or contractors? Not going to be a fun day for that wing walker / tug-driver.

PD below the wing are contract. Way back when they used to be in-house. Not saying mistakes can't happen in-house but you get what you pay for.

Never felt so short …

AF327 cancelled Monday (3rd)

Two of mine friends were scheduled to fly on AF327 on Monday (3rd) but this morning they got this message:

Air France : For operational reasons we are not able to accommodate you on flight AF327 on 03JUN. You are rebooked on AC469 on 03JUN: departure from OTTAWA YOW at 20:00, arrival at TORONTO YYZ at 21:07, then connection on flight AF387 on 03JUN: departure from TORONTO YYZ 3 at 23:30, arrival at PARIS CDG at 12:55. Please accept our sincere apologies.

They didn’t accept this booking and instead they chose AC8012 to YUL and then AF347! They have another flight to catch at CDG at 10:15am so the first booking wouldn’t worked for them!

Just an fyi…in case anyone have friends/relatives flying on Monday using AF327! I’m assuming AF328 would be cancelled on Monday as well?!

I’m on AF327 tomorrow and everything is as planned.

AF327 still shows as planned but on a 332 on Monday so they probably had to bump some folks to make things fit. There's usually a hierarchy here, including status, fare type, fare paid, etc., with the most basic/cheapest of fares being most vulnerable. They can inquire about denied boarding compensation, but aircraft change is usually an exempted reason for providing compensation.

I've used AF327 a couple of times to connect to non Air France flights and it is a lengthy process. The first time was during peak Covid and I was sure it was a temporary glitch but no crazy long shuttle rides and multiple security lines is the norm.

Arriving at 8am should work but any delay and they won't make the 10:15 flight. One of my flights AF offered a one ticket code share but wanted $800 more than the flight just to Paris when booking seperately was $300.

That makes sense, thanks for the explanation!

PD goes double daily to LAX and LAS from YYZ starting at the end of August.

If we assume what seems to be the typical 95% load, that means around 80 pax in both directions will need to be bumped. Will need to remember this 332 when calculating June’s AF LF. Just over 2 weeks to go until the bump up to daily service.

Effective 29AUG24 for LAS & 05SEP24 for LAX. I’m not surprised as that will greatly improve and increase connectivity. If (when?) PD start YOW-LAS, they’d want to wait until October, so hopefully an announcement for it is coming soon.

I’d guess YOW-LAX comes in summer 2025 or 2026.

The additional eastbound LAS flight will enable connections to YOW although it's a red-eye. At the moment you can only go westbound with PD to LAS through YYZ. The additional LAX flight doesn't connect to YOW either way.

C-GKXK did its first revenue flight as PD245 to YHZ this afternoon.

C-GZQK also got patched up pretty quickly after its encounter with the fence earlier this week, returning to service as PD277 to YYC this evening. For some fun irony, it departed from gate 27.

That's the 3rd or 4th time in the last 2 weeks where 81 would have been broken. In other words, any day now it's bound to happen.

YYT coming online this week plus AF going daily next week should help get it over the hump at some point this month. If not, PD adding a second frequency on YQM, YFC and YYG doing 2x daily from the 10x or 11x weekly it's currently at will surely do the trick once the calendar flips to July.

WS this winter are increasing YEG-YOW up to 11x weekly. Haven't looked to see if that's just for the XMAS rush or over most of the winter.
