I saw that person’s post. Not putting a lot of stock into it.

100% this.
Probably was just Sutcliffe referencing his trade mission to London where he (allegedly) met BA officials before he ran the London Marathon.

They've gone from "confirmed", to "negotiations" to "well let's see" in three posts. Big nothingburger.

Would be interested to hear the supposed speech quote. The person mentions an “AGM” but I can’t figure out what event that is.

BA is quite premium heavy, more so than AF or AC. Not sure Ottawa would work but might be worth a shot if AC is dragging their heels.

The British Airways 788 has 31J-37W-136Y and might be a fit if they can spare one. Other wide bodies are even more premium. The A321neos are technically within their range from LHR-YOW but not sure if they have ETOPS or if that would be feasible with winds or if they would even bother sending one TATL.

Not sure either - only thing I saw on the City of Ottawa agenda was police board stuff. (I asked in that thread but don't post much there so it needs mod approval)

Highly unlikely the BA A321neos are ETOPS certified. They are mostly used intra-Europe, where ETOPS isn't required, so the chances of seeing one cross the pond are slim to none.

For those interested, I took a look at the Porter schedule for July 9 (departing YOW) and July 11 (arriving YOW), and compared it to August 6 (departing YOW) and August 8 (arriving YOW).

There are a few amendments between the dates, notably the YWG-YOW and the YOW-YYT timings. The other western Canadian destination timings change slightly as well. I find the YOW-YWG and YWG-YOW timings to be the strangest for any connections. I'll let you all take a look if you want. Tables below sorted by YOW departure and YOW arrival times.

Departures from YOW - July 9:

Arrivals into YOW - July 11:

Departures from YOW - Aug 6:

Arrivals into YOW - Aug 8:

Actually most of their 788's are 35J/25W/154Y. The J and Y are pretty similar to AF's current 359 and that plane as well we all know is filling up quite nicely. When AF first announced their plans, I heard so much doubt from so many people about the viability. Look where we are today after less than a year of their launch. The AC flights prepandemic were doing just fine and those had limited options in connections at LHR. It's worth a shot IMO.

So the adjusted inbound YWG flight pretty much only connects well to YFC, YYZ, YTZ, EWR and YYG, but can also connect to YQM, MCO, BOS & YHZ if someone's willing to wait.

Hopefully this is just the laying of the groundwork for a 2nd daily YWG-YOW.

Another E2, C-GKXK currently coming inbound on a delivery flight to YOW.

Yesterday C-GZQK's left wing hit a fence while pushing back from gate 27 doing the morning YOW-YVR. A replacement frame ended up departing a few hours late.

From 27? So they must have pushed it back and turned the plane 180 degrees and the wing hit the wind fence. That's poor communication from the tug driver and wing walker. Really hard to imagine that happened as they must have pushed the plane backwards a bit more than necessary.

Yeah I'm really not sure how they screwed that one up.

I don't know for a fact it was C-GZQK that had this incident, but deduced it based on the fact that it was the only E2 on the ground all day at YOW yesterday (still is today), and the yesterday morning did YYZ-YOW which both FR24 and Flightaware listed as arriving at gate 27. It would make more sense if using gates 23 or 25 but I don't believe anything bigger than a CR9 usually parks there.

I have definitely seen A220s on 25 but can't recall if anything bigger than a CR9/DH4 has used 23. Even 25 sees mostly DH4s/CR9s though.
