This building is a huge miss. It looks like some suburban office park tower with the most banal glass rectangle residential building perched on top. The one interesting feature, the tapering angled columns on the amenity deck, could have been a defining motif if they'd repeated it elsewhere, say on the crown. Instead it just looks random and awkward. And the street level is absolutely unforgivable. A blank wall on one side, metal mesh on the other.

Perfect spot for a video billboard like at Times Square in New York.

We can’t always assume it was the architect. Remember 700 river originally looked like a completely different tower than what we ended up with. Sometimes it’s the clients checkbook
Hopefully someone will give lake-flato another shot down the road

Yes. Architects would love to design iconic buildings with no budget restrictions.

Also, Gensler had nothing to do with this building. Handel (Austin Proper architect) designed the tower, and the architect of record was Page.

Just leave the crane up permanently. Spire would look nice on 6XG too.

You know, a permanent crane feature could be a sort of artistic statement: "Just as these buildings look incomplete, we too are always a work in progress..."

It would look great on a coffee mug.

Is the south face of the 'crown' glass or metal panels? I can't tell if that's just the reflection but it looks opaque. I would imagine they'll cheap out on the lighting as they have everything else.

Pretty whack when people don't give credit sigh. But it's a lot more work to put watermark rather than just post and update you guys haha

What was the original turn date for this thing? Website says early ‘25 for opening. Started Jan ‘22. Crane is still up now. Other than all the pour backs and completing the pool, this looks to have a lonnng way to go.

The way the podium flares out makes it look as if the top portion of the building is too heavy for the podium to handle and its getting squished outward.

But.... "yay! angled exposed support beams" (eye roll)
