Regarding the North York/Calgary comparison. Sure the buildings are larger in Calgary, but to the untrained eye, especially now that the photos of both are right next to each other in that post, they looks remarkably similar (in shape/form).

keep in mind it is compared to a photoshoped calgary with the beltline having paved over the Bow river. I doubt many calgarians would approve of that.

I was comparing the shape of the skyline not the size. A silly comparison was saying Toronto looked like Calgary from the sky.

I tried to be generous with this photoshop comparison. It looks about right. I have to say though, north york is pretty impressive. Good for them for developing condos among so many single family homes.

This puts it all to rest.

Actually a surprising amount of North York's towers are office buildings, and North York's "downtown" has a legitimately urban vibe. Back before amalgamation, North York was very much its own city and sought to compete against Toronto for corporate offices. Now that's all moot, but it certainly makes for a pretty interesting "suburb".

I said that it looked like a photoshopped version of Calgary that made it look longer with the dense office core extending into mainly residential highrises along a continuous strip reminded me of Toronto, and I'm sorry if you can't see the parallels, but there's nothing silly about it.

What, people don't understand the concept of proportions? Things don't need to be the same size to be compared.

I just wanted people to understand the scale of Calgary's downtown and the Beltline. We always seem to get written of as having a big office core and nothing else. The beltline is probably one of the best places I have lived and it keeps changing! Right now there is a bunch of low rise / mid rise stuff being constructed that I really like. It keeps it sunny in the beltline.

I am strictly trying to compare the scale compared to other cities. Nothing else. There are many buildings missing from the Calgary Photo as well. This was just the best complete angle of the beltline.

Dont want to offend anyone or start arguements.
