You do this shit one more time and I'm blocking you. I am sick of your infecting this thread with your agenda.

You post a reply playing dumb and I'm blocking you. You want to share why you have to add this bullshit to every post and I'll listen. Play dumb and I'm blocking you. Would love to have an intelligent discussion about crime, crime stats, criminalistics, criminology. Cannot stand one more instance of your sucking me into a conversation about your opinions of "Calgary's inner city."

The block poster function is wonderful; I used it some time ago, and it turns out the Calgary forums are massively more readable without having some sicko interject his pathetic masturbatory fantasies over murder and mayhem at random.

To add a user to your ignore list, go to "User CP" in the upper left hand column, then find "Edit Ignore List", and type the names in. Really valuable, IMHO; some people have proven they are not interested in discussion, merely their ghoulish pleasure at the misfortune of others to further some sort of pathetic land use ideology.

I think this link may work: edit ignore list.

Since we're off topic, I note that between the trolly posts, suburbia actually posts some well thought out things, and also some posts that almost seem accidentally pro inner city. The way I see it, most of us on here think the same way, and he's probably not totally in line with most members of this community. It's kind of how beyond.ca (local car forum) is almost the opposite of here, and I'm always dropping annoying posts about how great the inner city is and how I love bike lanes. It drive them nuts. I chuckle at suburbias more obvious posts and move along.

Another unfortunate homicide that sounds like it was targeted. Interesting how suburbia didn't jump to post this one. Maybe we should focus less on where these shootings are happening and instead focus more on why.

Just catching up on the news dude. Homicides are never good things. Why are you focusing on location? You seem a pinch of a troll in doing so.

suburbia, while road_runner's quip towards you may have been a bit rude, it is impossible for the casual observer to note that you have a certain bias when posting in this thread towards certain aspects of crime that are apparently designed to harass the other users here. I'm going to ask you to either move on or to look at how your posting history is neither helping yourself nor helping others.

This looks like it was a great move:
http://www.calgarysun.com/2015/02/10...ng-youth-crime

Quote:
The seven-year-old Youth at Risk Development Program (YARD) has led to a 41% decrease in criminal charges among its participants compared to those who didn’t take part, says a third party assessment of the 250-strong study group.

And 54% of those involved in YARD — which matches social workers and police officers with at-risk youth — say the program has changed their behaviour.

That Auburn Bay one shocks me. I had no clue it happened until a couple days later and I think it was only a couple blocks from my place. Interesting in the time since I've moved in that's 2 murders within a short distance, a busted grow op down the street, a cougar being shot at the hospital and a massive house fire behind our row of townhouses. I had deja vue on Friday when there were cop cars blocking off the roads to the hospital (same thing happened with the cougar). I asked one of the cops what was going on and he said they "lost someone" and not to worry. Interestingly enough my wife saw a guy in an orange jumpsuit being escorted by officers when she was at the Y a few days before. I didn't realize they treated convicts there, but I guess it makes sense.

Lucky the massive house fire wasn't in your row of condos - could have put out dozens of families! I think that cougar should have been charged. Unbelievable that you have a hospital in your backyard that has patients who sometimes get lost - you should have played the NIMBY card and had it moved to somewhere else. Good thing you live in such an un-walkable neighbourhood, else the murders, crime and corruption would have been within walking distance, but alas, you would have needed a taxi for the couple blocks.

Anyway, like I posted, I think its great that the police initiative with the youth seems to be working and youth crime is down.

You guys think Crime is going up in the City? I'm really at the point now where I am very prepared to move. My Buddy Metro-One is lucky, but then again I guess the Grass is always greener on the other side isnt it?

Officers and emergency crews were called to the 2600 block of Edmonton Trail N.E. following reports of a shooting shortly after 2 p.m. As paramedics tended to an injured man, police flooded the area in pursuit of a suspect after getting a description from witnesses.

A suspect in his 20s, who matched the description of the man Di Stephano saw running by her house, was soon spotted from a police helicopter. Moments later, he was arrested by officers in a nearby field, duty inspector Joel Matthews said.

Man dead after brazen daytime shooting in Tuxedo Park
Sounds like both of these were rentals.

And looks like there was a third shooting following Killarney and Tuxedo Park - location of this one is unknown, but victim, who has now also died, found his was to the Peter Lougheed Centre:

Annnnd you're on block. You never have ANYTHING to contribute aside from pointing out the "horror" in the inner city. Odd, you completely missed the daytime shooting in Auburn Bay though. You're selective reporting would make you a great candidate for Fox News anchor.

Doug - the third of the shootings in the last 24 hours is in an unknown location, and I clearly pointed out that the victim found his way to PLC in the NE.

It is ridiculous that you're dumping on me for pointing out the three shooting incidences in the last 24 hours, two of which resulted in death, all in a CRIME thread.

This thread is about CRIME - so if you don't want to read about it, don't click.

You are much stronger man (to hold out this long) than I. I haven't opened this thread in a couple of years. I was wondering if whole threads can be blocked, and see that "Suburb's Calgary is a terrifying warzone" theme continues.

A shame, as the odd quoted post of his that I see sometimes contains relevant info. Not sure of his or her personal situation... Maybe they were victims of a viscous assault this side of McKight, or maybe they have anxiety issues triggered by crimes in the car-2-go zone? Whatever it is, for their part I hope the inner city crime hysteria posts are an elaborate long-con troll job. And not true feelings of fear, as Calgary is about as safe as you can get.

Get Well Soon, Suburbs!

Wow! This a great place to find important information about crime in Calgary. I don't like to read the paper or keep up with current events, so it's awesome to have all the information available in one place.

This page is a great resource for helping me decide where to drive my SUV, and when I need to be doubly sure that I lock the doors. I'll be avoiding Killarney until this rash of violence blows over! Why do they even call it "Tuxedo Park"? They should be calling it "Hoodie Park" with all those renters!

There's a sign that says "For Rent" in my neighbourhood - I can tell you, I'll be out of here as soon as they find somebody! It's a good thing that we keep an eye on all this violence. Some cities didn't keep an eye on it, and look what happened to them!!! Yikes!

Please, if you know anything about any violence, no matter how little actual threat is posed to public safety, please share! I don't care if Calgary has some amongst the lowest crime rates per capita on the planet of all time. Tell me where they come from, tell me their age, and tell me how poor they are. That way I can avoid anyone like that. You'll be doing a great favour for our society.
