Even bars are not permitted to serve alcohol after 4 PM in downtown?

I don't know what's worse, the fact that the state nannies us like children, or the fact that they tend to be right and too many of us can't be trusted to make the right, responsible decisions.

This was the only article I seen that said bars were covered. Looks like it may be incorrect. Liquor stores in the downtown core will be closed at 4 PM - and I fully support that. It appears it'll be the same as what occurred on Monday night.

The latter, unfortunately.

If only we could take liquor out of the hands of all the imported people from the interior and the islands who tend to show up full-hillbilly to events like this.

It's not true, the liquor stores inside the core have a 4pm shut off, not the bars or restaurants. Same policy was used during the winter games and no problems caused. Plan ahead and no issues, this only stops the unprepared.

Not cheering for anyone in particular but thought this video was pretty well made. Al Pacino's Inches speech from Any Given Sunday.

I presume all this traffic is heading for downtown for the game, because it is HORRENDOUS today.
The Port Mann backup never extends past 200th... it's out to 208th-216th today according to sources.
Through my own eyes, there is also a horrendous amount of traffic clogging 104th nearly all the way through from Whalley-Guildford (in the westbound direction), and 100th is having trouble moving in the Guildford area. Backups on the local streets trying to get onto these roads are horrendous also. I'm totally gridlocked in the 4x4 block square where I live.

Surprisingly the stretch of Highway 1 past the PMB is actually moving really well in the westbound direction (at least that's what google has to say about it)

No traffic eastbound as of 3pm on the construction webcam...

http://www.earthcam.com/clients/britishcolumbia/portmann/?cam=capehorn

Westbound past PMB is always decent except in the morning. The Port Mann Bridge is kinda like a metering signal in a sense.

Well, it's about a few minutes after 5 PM. Say Hello to traffic:

i have never seen downtown like it was today - not even the olympics were like this - its weird - so many streets are just shut down - 100's upon 1000's are heading into downtown non-stop they were non stop coming out of the stations on granville - going east was extremely easy and almost empty and this was at 5:30

oh and saw one store boarded up on robson street - apparently a few stores downtown have boarded up as they fear a riot

the bag checks are useless - i saw dozens of people openly drinking beer

at the station there is a wall of police when you come off and police are inspecting bags and cup drinks - opening the cups and smelling them

THE DREAM IS OVER.

The third goal was the final backbreaker.

I hope we can sever ties with Luongo before next year. We cannot go forward carrying baggage like that. I hope Vigneault goes too. He showed outrageously poor judgment in leaving Luongo in for so long in the Boston games. You pull the goalie before the game gets completely out of hand, not after. Inexcusable. In fact, he shouldn't have even started in Game Four (after letting in eight goals in two periods in Game Three) and definitely not in Game Six. Of course, it was not all Luongo's fault; it was a team effort. But we needed someone capable of stealing a game on the road. Luongo wasn't that guy. There is no way the fans are going to get behind him again for another season. The chants of LUOOOOOOOO! are just going to sound hollow from now on.

I feel sick to my stomach. No point in watching the rest of this.

GOODNIGHT.

Thanks to a couple of goals that many people I know are agreeing shouldn't have counted (goal 3 should have at least been a penalty shot!)...

Yeah, I'd bet on a riot tonight bigger than 94. Board up your windows, folks.
