S'more pics from me taken today.

Most of these are from the busy streets of Chinatown:

New infill vs. old infill:

I really dig the new neon sign!

You don't see one of these gems driving around everyday. Taken in Gastown:

When I was a kid, Chinatown was packed like that everyday......

....nowadays, you might see 1/4th or 1/5th of that.

I don't think the people are trying to avoid Chinatown, its because with Chinese shopping malls are everywhere now its no need to go to Chinatown anymore. I do most of my Chinese shopping in Surrey or metrotown. I haven't gone to Chinatown or even Richmond for a long long time.

Amazing photos! This has has got to be the most documented fog week in the history of Vancouver. Every photo I've seen is a classic. Loved the eastside shots, ensthefog.

Yeah, that photo is definitely not photoshopped, cropped maybe. My guess is that it's taken on the ferry from Naniamo to Vancouver. The photographer was probably using a 300mm-400mm lens.

^ Chinatown could really use more cultural institutions, like a major/large Chinese cultural museum.

Great idea...but where's the funding going to come from?
Who's going to design?..James Cheng?? Haha

I am being serious that this is a good idea to keep the traditions in China Town..since this is the largest one in Canada!

It's the third largest in the world for that matter, after NYC and San Francisco.

lol, a lot of this is dreaming....then again, the Chinese community is quite wealthy.

In terms of the size of its population or the area of Chinatown?

I've been San Francisco and I found that its Chinatowns rather small compare to ours.

I'd say Shanghai and Beijing are the biggest Chinatowns

Oh yeah and the EMP, the Seattle Art Museum, the shopping that so many Vancoverites seem to enjoy every weekend. Please and don't even get me started on the music scene comparisons, P.S.-some real nice photos here.
I don't mean to offend anyone when I call Seattle dull. I have no "beef" with Seattle. I have been to Seattle many times and I just find it to be dull and not just in comparison to Vancouver. Seattle has some nice attractions outside of downtown, such as the Zoo and museum of flight, but for the most part it seems to be lifeless street after lifeless street. The EMP is hugely overrated, Pike Market makes me claustrophobic and Vancoverites go shopping in Seattle because its cheaper. There are a lot of cultural events in Vancouver; it could be better but I don't think Vancouver much behind Seattle in that regard.

I have traveled a fair amount and there are plenty of cities that I love, but I just don't feel that way about Seattle. So what ever.
