From the meeting minutes from the May 21st Anglophone East District Education Council Meeting
"Regarding the Shediac K-12 project, The Superintendent/CEO announces that
the design has received approval from the Minister, and an architect has been
appointed to oversee the project. Tomorrow, a meeting is scheduled to discuss
potential design templates that could be proposed for implementation.

While we have not secured land for either project yet, the department is actively
collaborating with landowners to finalize the necessary arrangements for both
builds."

Another interesting point was that it was asked if they could include parking for e-bikes and scooters that don't fit into regular bike racks at both the Dieppe and Shediac schools.

I imagine landowners are being greedy, and the negotiations are all about price.

E-bike parking sounds like a good idea.

This new build on Main Street is virtually complete, but the site is now moribund.

Apparently, the rumour is that this is because that disgraced structural engineer from Moncton was involved in this project. Apparently, an inspection has been performed, and substantial bracing is needed to make the site safe. The necessary steel has been ordered, but, until it is installed, this site is in limbo,

Too bad - St. Louis Bar & Grill, Halo Donuts, Lost & Found Ice Cream, Vibe Juicery and a couple of other businesses are also in limbo, and are losing a complete summer season.

Shediac Mayor Roger Caissie posted on Facebook last week that the plan for next year is to extend Breaux Bridge St. to Ohio road.
This makes a lot of sense especially with the amount of houses being built between Breaux Bridge and Highway 15. This will allow residents to move from one side of the town to the other without using Main st. and hopefully alleviate some of the congestion the town currently experiences. The only thing that could make this better is if you could get off of highway 15 east at Riverside dr.

Excellent news.

This is absolutely necessary, especially given how fast the town is growing.

Still no news on the location of the new anglophone K-12 school? This is getting ridiculous.

I have a feeling there is some political posturing going on here with the legal actions between the Education minister and the District Education Council. I have a source on the council who indicated that they had a site selected months ago but were waiting for the minister to make the announcement and couldn't divulge the location until then. I may be wrong but we might not hear anything until the election campaigning starts. Given that it is supposed to be opened September of 2027 they need to get moving on construction sooner rather than later.

On Shediac Cape, the are removing the remaining playground to install portables. The kids are now playing in the bus drop off area during lunch and recess.

[quote]A fourth lawsuit has been filed over alleged design flaws in a building by a suspended Moncton structural engineer.

New Brunswick-based LRL Property Investments Inc. filed a lawsuit Thursday in Moncton court against Hélène Thériault and her firm, Match Engineering.]/quote]

Quote:
The filing outlines a list of repairs, including:

Digging up a sidewalk to expose the buildings footings, a component of its foundation.
Removing portions of the concrete parking garage slab to install footings.
Cutting and removing walls and ceilings on multiple floors to install steel.
Removing "surfaces" in residential units to add steel plates.
Installing new patio columns on 12 apartment and two commercial unit balconies.

Holy crap - the extent of repairs necessary is incredible!
