^I totally agree, arjay57.

That's a pretty impressive tenant lineup, and I love that there are local restaurants in the mix.

Came across this, excuse me if this has been posted before. I believe Hines is the architect, and it looks like the work of Pickard Chilton.

No - Novare's building is to the right of One Atlantic Center. This looks to be the site with the 3 proposed high-rises on 14th Street. I am guessing this is an old rendering because it looks like the building has a Red Hat Software logo on it. Red Hat was supposed to move to Atlanta 4 years ago, but NC offered up huge incentives not to leave.

Would have been a nice addition.....

Another potential downtown redevlopment project.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle is reporting that the city of Atlanta now owns Underground Atlanta. The city officially bought out the remainder of an 88-year lease with the project’s operating partner Dan O’Leary for $8.8 million, the city confirmed Monday. The official owner is the Downtown Development Authority, an authority within the Atlanta Development Authority (Invest Atlanta). The city plans to market Underground Atlanta to developers, Atlanta Business Chronicle reported in March.

The project, a collection of restaurants and shops, has continued to struggle as a tourist destination. The idea of finding a new developer comes as the city looks for ways to save money as it prepares to float a bond issue to finance a backlog of infrastructure projects.

With the recent proposed sale of the Turner Field site; the $1.2 billion sports/ entertainment complex replacing the Georgia Dome ; the Atlanta Hawks owners planning to " reimagine" Phillips Arena and the proposed 4 star hotel project planned for the Georgia World Congress Center, I am wondering what is on the horizon for downtown on the development front?

I know that 2018 is slated to be a big year for Atlanta's downtown:hosting a possible Super Bowl; the College Football National Championship as well as the debut of Atlanta's MLS franchise. Will these projects be enough to not only hold these events in a globally competitive fashion but entice them to return as well as attract other major events like the World Cup? Any thoughts on what type of developer(s) would be attracted to this-and other downtown projects?

Here's what the falcon stadium looks like currently. They're about halfway done removing the giant wall that separated the two parking lots.

That Post deal kinda snuck up on us there. They've only owned that site for something like 15 years now. I wonder what made them feel like now was the right time to throw their hat into the ring so late into this current development cycle.

I know it is, and it's exciting as hell! We aren't used to bringing up the rear after a recession, and this time is different - but we are definitely back. We are historically the last to enter one, and the first to emerge.

I know our job growth is great now, and we are flying under the radar nationally when it comes to that. I'm just slightly concerned with 16,000+ units in the pipeline ITP - and the number continues to grow weekly.

I would love to be proven wrong with my very slight fear, and really expect to be. I was mostly thinking out loud...

i really hope so. with midtown's rents skyrocketing, i don't see an end to the current cycle soon; instead, this is just the beginning as nanosolar said. when you start seeing the rents for new places dropping, you'll see a slowdown.

the current situation actually bothers me because the rents are so high. it would be nice to see lower rents for a lot of places, but the rents are artificially inflated because there's such a short supply of apartments.

I agree re: the rents, bryantm3. I know we are producing a lot of good jobs and there is a LOT of money here, but is it enough in both cases? We are at historical highs here with rent/sales per square foot, and it just keeps increasing weekly. There is very obviously major demand. It will be very interesting to see how it all works out.

I don't mean to sound smug or heartless by any means, but I am SO glad I'm comfortably settled on the NE side.

Westside's Waterworks Park

A major Westside property owner and a local business are teaming up to help raise funds for the reopening of Waterworks Park, one of the greatest landmark parks in Atlanta. Westside Provisions District and Monday Night Brewing have joined to support Friends of Atlanta Waterworks.

The "Friends" group is asking the city of Atlanta to reopen greenspace surrounding Atlanta Waterworks in Midtown, that for more than a century was open to the public The area was fenced off prior to the Olympics due to" security concerns" and has been remained off limits to the public since 1996. According to the advocacy group, "Atlanta Waterworks is being envisioned in accordance with the Atlanta Beltline's subarea 8 master plan and will include walking trails, green lawns, old-growth oak trees, and connectivity to future Atlanta BeltLine. "
The "Friends" organization, with the help of the Westside Provisions District and Monday Night Brewing, is hosting a "kickoff visioning and friendraiser" on May 21.
( Hope the group has some thoughts on Huff Road as well)

Hines is a developer. Pickard Chilton is an architect.

This tower looks an awful lot like Cesar Pelli's Cira Centre in Philadelphia...
