Not always. N.S.-104 is being realigned around Marshy Hope area between Sutherlands River and Antigonish during twinning.

So start 104 exit numbers at the NB border.

I've never really paid attention to exit numbers. The distance-based ones are useful, but I tend to have a good idea about that pre-trip and knowing where I am at on a given stretch of highway (even for trips on routes I've never travelled... a side-effect of being a map geek

)

I used to pay attention to exit numbers in Ontario, but oddly enough I don't pay attention to them in BC, or in any US state I've driven in.

In Quebec, I saw a car with a "plate" on it, but it was missing the numbers. What is that about?

What do you mean? It was blank?

Sometimes cars will have no plate but a temporary piece of paper taped to the back window.

No, it looked like someone took the license plate and cut it across just under the word "Quebec".

Still never seen one as described in Quebec, i.e. a metal plate cut off just below the word "Québec".

Here it seems they always use a piece of paper (yellow?) stuck in the back window.

I saw a car on the 400 on the weekend like that - couldn't make out where it was from. I've never really seen it before so I imagine it was American.

Also - Driving on the 407 on Friday afternoon through Halton Region and it seemed like over 50% of the vehicles on the highway had US plates. Makes me wonder if border crossing volumes are back to more or less normal finally post-COVID.

edit: looking it up - it's getting pretty close. May 2023 saw 381,000 vehicles cross the Peace Bridge vs. 431,000 in 2019.

So I learned Quebec City drivers are the worst, and the actions of most Quebecois drivers don't make much rational sense. Example: there's obviously an upcoming red light, so I'm downshifting to slow down yet they honk,floor it and pass me then stomp on the brakes at the last second: mechanics must love these idiots. Or I'm trying to relax on the 90kph country roads, going about 105kph and they pass me at 130. I'm skeptical electric cars will ever be popular outside Montreal, as the locals drive so fast range will always be an issue.

In the twisty steep mountain passes around Shefford, on the back roads, an impatient Hyundai floored by me; a few minutes later I saw he went off the road, luckily didn't overturn.

I do love the higher speed limits and better freeway system.

Vermont drivers are similar, perhaps not as reckless.

But the craziest behavior was on the 417 to Ottawa. Now my car unfortunately revs at 4000rpm above 130kph, and at times I hit 150, yet Quebecers were still honking and passing.

Quebec autoroutes (freeways) do not have higher speed limits than Ontario 400-series highways.

There aren't any highways in Quebec that have a posted limit of 110 kmh.

^Exactly. In similar traffic conditions, most 401 drivers go about 120kph in sparsely populated regions, perhaps 135 on the 400 or through GTA in the fast lane. Yet on the TCH & especially A40, drivers were routinely going 140 in relatively dangerous conditions - aka a bad thunderstorm.

It doesn't matter where you are from. The area where you live has the worst drivers in the world.
