Just that square kilometre outside the CBD could be top 5 skyline in Canada.

Aesthetic preferences aside, just in terms of height and bulk, it's probably a top 3 skyline.

Might even be fun to do a top-10 list separating Toronto's various skylines out. Yonge-Eglinton is probably a top-10 even.

Speaking of Toronto - I returned this week from a nine day stay. Lots of walking as per usual, averaging about 18 km a day. I tried to avoid repeating the photographs I took last year at this time.

For some reason there were very few good live events occuring during my stay, ironically enough one of my favourite Victoria bands Frog Eyes was playing at The Cave (above Lee's Palace) and right after that show I booked it downstairs to see A Place to Bury Strangers - self described as New York's loudest band.

I love that green ceramic tile storefront. Just a hint of Lisbon.

Great pics. Averaging 18kms a day is a ton of walking. Did you explore any other hoods? After having visited, I've always thought the Beaches in the east end has a similar vibe to some of Vancouver's strips, like West 4th.

Looking at the cladding, I'm skeptical this will translate well over the entire building. It seems dark and heavy.

You could be right on the cladding - while Aqualuna certainly looks like a homerun.

The Beaches was on my list as was High Park, Humber Bay, Scarborough Bluffs and a walk through the Bridal Path, but I missed them this time as they were too far east, west or north! Otherwise I was mainly walking south of Bloor (with one subway trip up to Midtown where I walked back to Bloor), east of Ossington and west of the Don Valley Parkway.

ScreamingViking - if you're commuting once a week I assume its for work purposes and after a long day you just want to grab dinner and head back to the hotel to rest - not much time to wander around. That's the beauty of visiting as a tourist and not a work trip, I have all day and night to explore, eat out, try different restaurants, coffee shops, etc, grocery stores. Speaking of grocery stores I found them surprisingly affordable. I shopped mainly at Farm Boy and Longo's and to be honest they are cheaper than all my local Victoria grocery stores with the exception of say a Canadian Superstore which is out in the suburbs anyways.

One surprising thing that is missing is an architectural museum. In fact it seems only Montreal and Victoria have such a museum (that is not a historic house soley devoted to it's history). Seems like a no brainer for a city like Toronto, or even a skyscraper museum, but make it a proper one, not a tacky tourist trap in the CN Tower vicinity, lol.

Bridle Path may not be worth the trek as most estates are fenced off and set back from the street. Rosedale may be a better alternative on foot as it's much closer to DT. The architecture is much nicer too (unless you're looking for lavish and audacious!).

The Beaches and High Park are are great options for a future visit. Not central but easy to get to.

The Beaches has a laid back vibe - feels quite different from the other neighbourhoods. And at the eastern end of the hood along the beach is the RC Harris building - an art deco beauty.

High Park itself has a lot to offer. Bloor along the park is mostly residential but a little further west is Bloor West Village which is a pretty good strip. Roncesvalles is fun and nearby as well - and since you like to walk, the Junction north of the park has a unique turn-of-the-century railroad town vibe.

Thank you Shappy - I've made note for my next visit! My next trip will be to /\ Ricoland - looking at Montreal in September with maybe a couple days in Quebec although I feel each deserve their own visit and I like to stay in one city at a time.

Here's a photo from Salt Spring Island of the Swart Bay ferry terminal on the Victoria side, with the town of Sidney below Mount Baker and the Victoria airport is just off screen to the right.

South of the airport as you continue down the peninsula to Victoria you pass through farmland and the coast on both sides (Brentwood Bay on the Saanich Peninsula side):

In through Union Station in the morning, and out after work. Usually I take the subway too, so I rarely see much at street level.

Even when I lived in Etobicoke for a couple of years (west side of Toronto for those who don't know... and I was in the southern part between Bloor St. and the QEW) I didn't explore very much, but visiting as a "tourist" beyond the downtown core is still on my to-do list.

Great Toronto pics - you really covered a lot of ground! I actually wanted to go to that Frog Eyes show but was out of town.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Niwell -that would have been quite the coincidence to be at the same show without realizing there was another SSP'er in the room, lol. I wonder if I passed by any on my travels.. I did keep an eye on Johnny Strides and Ken to see if they were live streaming nearby, but alas not the case. I recall watching within the past year and seeing Nouvellecosse running into Strides.

I was looking for myself in some of those. I was there around the same time as you. Nice pics as always - love the ones of the shopfronts in Cabbagetown especially.

It's a shame it's been such a cool/late spring though. The foliage was pretty sparse for May when I was there - especially coming from the summery lushness of Vancouver (nice to get a second round of cherry blossoms though). Also not sure if it was just the unseasonable weather or the economy or my imagination or all of the above, but the city felt quieter than usual. Oh well, I'll be back soon enough either way!

It was super busy out at the beginning of May when the weather was nice but things quieted down dramatically as soon as the cold front and rain hit. Yesterday was still cool but sunny at least and Roncy was packed again - lots of people on patios despite it being a Monday.

Now we need some Echoes Saskatoon pics my friend, I think it's been a while!

Heck you made me look around, and have you seen this site, amazing Saskatoon skyline/aerial pics!

Unfortunately (fortunately!?) they are so high res I can't share one here without mucking up the page width, but please check em out, you'll thank me later:

https://www.saskatoonpics.com/Aerial...24/i-dTDgCK3/A

the full website: https://www.saskatoonpics.com/Aerial/Downtown-2024

Wow, looks like they're are hundreds of exceptional high res photos spanning many years.
