I totally AGREE!

What's the building going up on Peachtree just a little bit up from Peachtree Battle Station shopping center? It looks like a condo mid-rise, has a crane up, perhaps is topped off? Rendering would be appreciated.

Was just in Atlanta and saw most of the construction - it will be fun to watch Post Alexander rise, I think, but hoping that some of these larger/more architecturally empowering towers make it to reality. The stuff proposed for Peachtree could be really interesting.

Man, I wish we had some upcoming new buildings that are architecturally stunning and photogenic. Maybe the completed Civil Right Center with the Water tower things will make that a reality.

So bring a bike? What percentage of commuters are doing more than home-work-home trip on a typical weekday ?

Getting from point A to point B is a chicken and egg problem in which we either 1) start building the density and allow for temporary increase in automobile traffic congestion then have people resort to other modes for congestion relief, or 2) start building the infrastructure for the alternative modes (transit, bike lanes, etc) then build the density.
In the first case you will hear people complain about congestion. In the second case you will hear people complain about runaway government spending on useless infrastructure.
I cannot see any other way to get from point A to point B, and I believe pretty much everybody on this forum agrees that this needs to happen. What do you think?
Aren't both cases you present being done already?

That's why I said depending on your lifestyle. There are plenty of people that don't do home-work-home. That's what helps contributes to some of the businesses thriving and or at least able to sustain. And let's be realistic. How many people would take a bike to some restaurants Happy Hour?

Anyone who lives near the beltline. Are you kidding? Biking to happy hour is super fun. Especially the ride back ...

They are to some extent. I just pointed out that we all need to complain less, particularly in this forum

I'm not sure where you are going, but the places I've been, there have been none. I can't imagine some of these ladies with their heels biking over to the restaurant.

I ride my bike to every restaurant I go to. Even after work. It is very easy to get around most of Atlanta with a MARTA/bike combo.

When picking a place to live, especially if you rent, find one close to a MARTA station and use it. If you work in Midtown, you really have no reason to drive at all.

I understand the fascination of living an urban lifestyle. So if you prefer to live in Atlanta without a car and only use public transportation, that's your decision. But a lot of you are either not being honest with yourselves, and or live a different lifestyle than me. I can tell you from STK, Lure, to Two Urban Licks, that no one is biking to these restaurants.
