Job growth helping Austin's office market heat up

As Central Texas' job growth continues, the area's office market is feeling the positive impact of those new hires.

Thanks to an influx of new businesses and expansions by existing companies, office rents and occupancy rates are on the rise, according to Oxford Commercial, which tracks the office market.

Its news like this that is probably the driving force with this new upcoming office tower announcement. By the way they are replacing the pipes along Colorado from 6th down to 3rd. My guess is upgrade the services for this new tower.

That library is so busy. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at. It looks like there's a large, windowed area overlooking Lady Bird Lake. I hope we get some more renderings soon, though it's nice to finally see some. I'm underwhelmed, to be honest. Not disappointed so much, just not really impressed.

Who goes to the library anymore? Why not use the funds to build a kick ass museum....

In regards to the office tower news, I was expecting a tidbit about the new 36ish story tower at 3rd and Congress. I guess it's not ready to announce or Shonda is waiting to release it in another article. Anyone have any insight here?

The only tidbit I could find was from the Emerging Projects page on the City of Austin's website. (See C 39)

Looks like it will be next to the airport as you can see the runway in the back ground in the first rendering. Anybody has any info on this?

It looks like the SW corner of 71 and 130 with Onion Creek on the south and 973 and ABIA bordering on the west.

A year or two ago there was something about a big community like that which was to be built on the opposite corner (NE side of the intersection) that would have a big park along the river with lots of homes and closer to the intersection would be retail and office.

I seem to remember another one being talked about that was like 2 miles west of that 130 intersection on 71. It went from 71 to the river.

I do. I'm at one now. They actually have some renderings of the main library on display here.

And I'm not crazy about that project next to the airport. I guess it can't really hurt anything, but egads, more sprawl. I noticed they put the taller buildings parallel to the runways at ABIA. I wonder how that would effect future airport expansion, though. If they were to put another runway that intersects the two that already there, I wonder how that would work.

The new library will be rad when it's done.... just gonna have to have faith.... it's a good spot for a library.... especially when in 2050 we have an urban rail station next to seaholm....

Also.... that tower is likely to be amazing because the people who built frost are building it.... it's unlikely that it will be bland....

Hey... what if that tower becomes a twin austonian? just kidding.... :-)

I find it odd that some projects never post or even show a rendering like hotel 1, or Skyhouse on Rainey. Now Im anxious to see this new 36st. office tower.
