I hope that's the outcome, but the state will have the final say. Despite Fox 10's oversimplified reporting, cities advise the state of their recommendations, but the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control makes the final determination.

I watched the livestream of the city council meeting. It's interesting how no one had anything good to say about Golden Margarita. Paz Cantina, the previous tenant, was a little better, but I think the design of the space makes it more suitable for a rowdy bar than a restaurant.

great. never liked the place. seemed like when they first opened up there were police there every weekend.

Waited 20 mins for service at the bar for an overpriced, watered down drink. Good riddance.

But considering the footprint of this place, not looking forward to how vacant this corner is going to be.

Golden margarita sucks, it has bad food a dumb layout and they are trying for a club atmosphere that is not really the vibe for Roosevelt Row.

It should honestly be split into a general sports bar (the big TV room on the corner) and a small cocktail bar facing Roosevelt.

Agreed. This is why I always hated the concept for Track Club and was glad it didn't last but a couple of weeks.

Speaking of, does anyone have any progress updates on that half gym/cocktail bar concept at DeSoto?

Its seems like its open or something? there are signs saying its open, its still called Track club and Ive seen lines outside a few times although i assume those were for private small shows/concerts/events not sure.

The lines outside of the former Track Club are for Tru Ultra Lounge, I thought. I think it's only open on Friday and Saturday nights. They've put up a very temporary-looking black-tarp fence for their outdoor patio area that I hope goes away soon.

I haven't seen any progress on the gym though.

Has anyone heard anything about Nanaya in the bottom of Hilton Garden Inn? I can't find any information about it online and there doesn't seem to be anything going on in that parcel anymore, except the For Lease signs are still down.

It’s Ultra Lounge now, basically a hip hop club. I know not for everyone in here but having the diversity of night life along Roosevelt is a good thing. I’ve been there a couple times, they could of tried a little harder but they aren’t going for new age fancy,lol. That temporary fence is horrible looking. The Gym is open too, I believe there’s a sign about signing up for a membership outside.

I passed by last weekend and peered in. It appears as though boxes of new chairs and tables have been placed in there. No sign of any meaningful renovations though. So maybe it just gets a good cleaning and new furniture. I'm hoping that's a sign of progress and not a final step prior to project abandonment.

I went to Nook one time in that location and the décor was just generic, Pretty sure the original Nanya at 36th and Indian school doesn't have any particular Japanese decorating so they are probably just moving in as is.

Cityscape's retail leasing site is showing that the space occupied by The Strand is set to become Pomo Pizzeria. I suspect they are moving out of their space next to Chambers to this infinitely better spot.

Also, the long-vacant parcel between Urban Outfitters and Chipotle is going to be a Nick The Greek. With these, it appears that CityScape is entirely leased out.

It still perplexes me that the old The Park space in Collier Center hasn't become something. That seems like such a perfect spot for a busy bar or restaurant concept, especially with how lively the area has become with Ainsworth. Collier Center must be have rents way too high.

First and Last opened in the old Rotten Grapes space behind pita jungle on 3rd ave north of roosevelt. neighbors went and said is was very good. Busy every time i drive by.

I wasn't really impressed by his Flavortown popup restaurant food. However, his burgers at Burger Joint on Carnival were delicious. Perhaps it was just the atmosphere.

I attribute his bad Flavortown reviews to being mostly delivery issues. Let's hope a sit-down works out better.

A new AZ Central article from today says the old Character restaurant at 216 E Portland is going to become a Thai restaurant called Lom Wong. Glad to see that space getting re-used so quickly.

Like you, I’m glad this place has quick turn around. Haven’t even had a chance to try the restaurants before they close. Is the absinthe bar behind the house still open?

Nah...it will be another bar now (owned by same Lom Wong restaurant)

Walked by and saw a few Japanese guys working (woodcutting, etc) - so I think Nanya is still on. I hope the incorporate the Art Deco decor that already exists - it was such a beautiful space.

Im surprised the retail at Hilton Garden has had a tough time. Its a very popular area now.
