yea, I was thinking that particular saturday was a beautiful sunny day after a week of crappy and heavy rain, I think most people were happy to do something outside instead of inside the mall.

But I did notice the last week I was home there were a lot more people wearing masks and I went to Hannam market in Surrey and they had a sign at the door that said something about due to the current situation... they were taking measures to ensure there products were properly wiped down and all the staff was wearing gloves and masks.

That's my beef with the reporting going on lately, with a lot of insinuated blame on "whitey" for avoiding Chinese restaurants. It's Chinese people avoiding Chinese restaurants (and malls)!!!

Because the CBC loves the clickbait that comes from dividing based on race relations, both sides Anger from camps that disagree and agree with their reporting.

Isn't that observation deck almost identical to the one opening at Sea to Sky Gondola?

Reminds me of 'The Vessel' in the New York Hudson Yards development.

Same company behind both projects, so perhaps it's the same engineer/designers.

There's plenty of blame for whitey to go around (and for yellowy and browny, but at least they're usually not dumb enough to conflate all other Asians as being from China)

Burnaby’s biggest Asian mall ‘suffering’ due to coronavirus rumour

Chris Campbell / Burnaby Now
FEBRUARY 19, 2020

Members of Burnaby council are set to make a “goodwill” visit to the city’s biggest Asian business centre to counter a false coronavirus rumour that is damaging business for merchants.

Crystal Mall, which is located just west of Metropolis at Metrotown says that Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley and members of council will visit the mall on Friday morning to “show their support to our merchants,” according to a statement by mall management, as well as “battle the rumours.”

Two very annoying incidents I witnessed in BC over the weekend.

One man walking his dog flicked his cigarette into a dry brush and started a fire outside my office then kept walking while I ran out with the extinguisher.

A couple at ICBC were kicked out as they were discovered to be breaching the mandatory two week quarantine for new arrivals.

Honestly if humanity fails I won’t be surprised.

Nice to see Darwinism is alive and well even in the age of a pandemic. I must say Misher I have seen so many similar situations over the last little while. Lol!

City Duo Posts To Pause Due To Family Tragedy
1950 – 2020
With the current events in the world today, it’s hard to find someone who’s life has not been touched by a personal tragedy. Hannah and I are deeply sorry to say that reality has hit home in our immediate family, with the loss of a close loved one.

City Duo has always been a project of passion for us. Despite stressful nights, and far too much time consumed with writing and seemingly endless editing, we feel fortunate that so many value our efforts. To know that we help more people know about and understand what changes our city is experiencing is an extremely rewarding feeling, and is why we take joy in it.

Unfortunately, we’re only human. This loss is too great to pretend we can continue as normal, and we will have many deeply personal matters to attend to for the next couple weeks. That said, our hope is to still publish some posts, as frankly, our writing has always provided a welcome distraction from life’s challenges.

Still, that may not be possible. Rather than leaving you, our dear readers, wondering what happened to one of your favourite Duos, or conversely, the one who’s perspective you love to hate, we felt we owed you all an explanation. Rest assured, we will be back.

In the meantime, please, be good to each other. We know times are stressful, and passions can quickly flare, but life is so beautiful and fragile that we owe it to ourselves to put more good into the world than bad. At least, take the time to express your love to your parents, siblings, children and all others you hold dear whenever you can, because ultimately life is too short to do anything else.

In our moment of loss and heartache, we ask you to please consider donating your time or resources to:
