I also saw the Austonian out on FM 967 west of 1626 a week ago. That was in the daytime and it was around 15 miles from downtown. I would imagine that you might be able to see the spire from that far away at night. The Independent should stick up there, too.

What's your favorite Halloween candy?

I loved getting these:

Also loved getting Reese's cups.

Three Musketeers, Milky Way, Almond Joy and Mounds were my favorites. Since I was diagnosed with Diabetes recently, I can't eat anything like that anymore. I can't eat any candy or sugary stuff. If I get any, you can have it.

Did you really like these, or did you just make yourself like them because all your friends and family would happily get rid of them? haha

After my dad rummaged through my Halloween booty, I was left with mostly crap like candy corn, bubble gum, the waxed paper wrap cheap kind, a few Tootsie Rolls, cookies, and apples. I was lucky to score any of the good stuff after Dad got his hands on my pillow case full of candy. But yeah, I really did like those. Probably partly to blame for my diabetes.

M&M's. They're like my trademark candy. I also would not TP anyone's house if I got some of these: Reese's candy, Three Musketeers, and Milkway. I mostly like chocolate. I also grew up on Skittles and Sweet Tarts. There were others, but M's were and still are what I always go for, however.

Original or Peanuts?

I was/am more of a chocolate guy, so I wasn't big on Skittles. But I did like Smarties.

I wasn't into Three Musketeers, Milky Way or Baby Ruth. But I liked the Hershey mix (Hershey, w/ Almonds, Mr. Goodbar, Krackle), Kit Kat, Nestle Crunch and Twix.

But those Atkinson PB bars were great because I never saw them outside of Halloween.

Peanut M&M’s and Kit Kat’s are my favorites. I also like those Hershey mix up bars. I grew up getting candy corn all the time but never grew to like it...

This is totally random but did anyone see the Astros-Dodgers game? That was amazing!

Yes! That Dodgers-Astros game was nuts! Thrilled Houston prevailed. Now that it's all tied up and headed to Houston, Astros have home field advantage in a best of 5 series essentially.

This series has just been awesome so far, all tied up and ready to make history. I really hope the Astros win the series!

I grew up on original and just stuck with it. I remember as a kid not liking having peanut M's which is really funny because I always liked Reese's...and I grew up eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I still eat one nearly every day. I like the HEB honey peanut butter they have. It's really good. On the M's thing and not liking the peanut ones, I think it's mostly just that I've never really liked having anything mixed in with chocolate. The idea of peanuts or coconut or really anything else except caramel just bugged me for some reason. But I always did love Reese's, and still do. I actually really like the peanut butter M's. I like to buy a bag of those and mix them with a bag of the original. The dark chocolate ones are good, too. I probably should get a bag of peanut M's. Who knows, I may end up loving them. haha

Actually, I like Skittles ok, but they weren't something I would eat often. I mostly liked them whenever we would go on road trips especially to the coast on fishing trips. I'd ride in the front seat and stay up and talk with my dad. I'd pour his coffee and munch on my skittles and have a soda on the way there. And yeah, I liked Crunch bars. I haven't eaten them as much for a while, but I did like them back in the day.

Can't believe I forgot Butterfinger. That was always my go-to Blizzard addition at DQ.

As for the World Series, I'm pulling for the Dodgers. I don't like any sports teams from Houston.

I'm a Rangers fan. No comment on that...

Pulling for the Astros this time around, though. Gotta support the Texas team.

That's where we differ. BECAUSE they're a Texas team, I can't cheer for them. I'm around their Aggy fans all the time. I'd rather not listen to them crow. haha

Fair enough, haha. If they're playing the Rangers, the gloves are off. When they're not, I don't mind - especially considering that the Rangers aren't in line to do anything but watch right now.

He predates baseball. I'm sure he wouldn't care.

Just found this in a big jar of pennies while cleaning out my Grandma's old house.

I love the old Austin logo. Anyone know what year this was?

There's a few of those for sale on Ebay. Yours looks to be in really nice shape compared to these other ones.

I was always a coin hound. My dad got me into collecting them. All of his friends were into collecting old stuff, either coins, stamps, bottles, insulators or some other old item. He and his friend used to go digging for stuff all over Austin, especially around downtown. And then even went on a few trips to New Orleans to go digging under some of the old houses there. I think I remember us talking about Mike McCoy and Austtex Coins in the Westgate shopping center, but we would go there often.
