I also remember the old Stong's at Dundarave in West Vancouver, where the IGA store is now. I would stop there and pick up a few things after having a burger at the original Vera's Burger Shack at Dundarave Beach. Back when Vera was actually behind the counter serving up her handmade ground sirloin burgers for ~$2.75. She didn't have a deep fryer though. She told me that she couldn't be bothered with the mess. So, if you wanted chips with your burger then it was a bag of potato chips. There's something about a eating a fresh sizzling hot homemade burger while sitting on a log at the beach...
I look forward to checking out the new Stong's store at the Ivy development up the street. I think their plan to open the new store there by Christmas this year may be a bit ambitious given the current state of construction. Maybe they'll open the new store before the building is actually finished.
