Today it got up to a whopping 7 degrees in Saskatoon, combined with heavily overcast skies and pouring rain... felt very much like a typical Vancouver winter day.

And thanks to the wind we were having, some of the leaves are now starting to blow off the trees. The nicest day in the forecast is Wednesday at 11 degrees and partly cloudy.

This is the coldest September I can ever remember having here.

There is a good chance that this could be a record cold September across western Canada.

Alberta is getting hit especially hard.

This is the 5th day in a row in Calgary not breaking 10 degrees, and the warmest day in the 6 day forecast is tomorrow with 9...

In southern BC, while more moderate (forecasts averaging mid teens) I wouldn’t be surprised if some locations end the month averaging 5 degrees or more below normal.

Much of the Okanagan was able to hang on to some form of acceptable September weather with highs remaining above 20 until a couple days ago, but the cool mid teens have sunk in there now too.

Of course at the same time we have seen some spots in Eastern Canada getting days over 10 degrees above normal now.

Only got up to 23C today in Moncton (humidex 25). It was cloudy and showery in the morning, which probably prevented us from having another 25+C day.

29C and sunny tomorrow though, but after that fall begins with temperatures mostly in the mid to upper teens with some hurricane moisture floating around all week (mostly remnant showers - nothing significant).

27C with a humidex of 33 and sunny! Today wraps up one of the best September weekends weather wise. ZERO wind as well. Official high was 27.6C which is good for another record high (26.9C in 1991).

Low of 19C this morning. Downtown Montreal registered a tropical low (21C).

The warmest low this morning was Long Point, ON at 22.3C.

The warmspot was Sprague, MB at 32.8C. Southeastern Manitoba got some of the warm air we are getting but very briefly. Sprague is already down to 12C after the cold front.

Hopefully we can add another 2 days of tropical lows so we make it 30 for 2018.

Actually a pleasant surprise we hit 27 today and was humid , but some of Alberta cold has filtered through and highs of 12-17 this week. We are near the cool/ warm dividing line we are 9 right now and Fargo ND 210 miles south 18 so it’s still close !!!!

Yikes.

Snow Could Touch Down On Island As Early As Tuesday

Quote:
PAL Airlines and Aerospace meteorologist Brian Walsh says temperatures are expected to take a dip this week, dropping into the single digits on the northeast Avalon on Tuesday and staying relatively cool for the remainder of the week.

Rain is forecast to develop west to east starting today, with the possibility of snow in higher elevations on the west coast on Tuesday.

St. John's specifically:

Wouldn't take much for any of those nights to drop below freezing.

We'll keep an eye out then for the freeze list.

29C and sunny in Moncton today, 25C and showery tomorrow, then temperatures fall into the teens with continued wet weather.

The Weather Network has released their fall forecast, and for Atlantic Canada they are calling for warmer than average temperatures and average precipitation.

Hard to believe I haven't slapped you yet .

Stupid jet stream.

Maps are weird. It's basically heading slightly south from Winnipeg to St. John's but looks like it's trending north.

Watch out for those clear nights. They're most likely out of any to have temperatures drop a bit more than expected.

He's hiding an acute plunge in temperature.

This is happening in Moncton too (into the mid to upper teens). At least I've been honest about it......

Actually both 10-day Canadian (GDPS) and U.S. (GFS) show seasonal temperatures for Halifax, and the rest of the Maritimes.

https://spotwx.com/

But yeah not expecting a lot of high 20's heading into fall.

Should be interesting if we can keep this record going:

https://twitter.com/YHZ_Weather/status/1041667451556126720

And the next two hot humid days should let us top this all time record for humidex ≥30:

EDIT: already hit Humidex 30 C today

Temperature maxed out at 28C in Moncton today with a humidex of 35.

Not too far away in the Miramichi, the temperature reached 31C.

Nicko should be happy, Montreal is right on the edge of "above normal" temps in the Weather Network's seasonal forecast. Southern Ontario is supposed to be normal.
