It's ended up being -37 C this morning with a -43 windchill. Anybody have it colder?

Warmer weather is on the way and will be wonderful for outdoor recreation here as we have plenty of snow. We finally had a sunny day today which haven't had in awhile and it felt nice even with the cold.

^ Yes! After a miserable day of rain, some more sun today, and about 11°C.

Ho ho ho, no.

-15C with a wind chill of -26 and sunny. Absolutely brutal. Another one. We are well on our way to an unimaginable 4th consecutive month below normal. Getting close to the point where no amount of mild weather will change that.

Low of -21C (wind chill of -30) this morning.

The warmspot was White Rock, BC at 12.8C.

Warmest low was Herbert Island, BC at 7.0C.

Saturday was pretty awful around Vancouver but Sunday made up for it. Sunny, calm, dry and mild.

Sunday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 11 C, the low was 6 C.

Currently -14 and cloudy in Toronto. We will finally go above freezing sometime in the next 4-5 days. The long term pattern looks to be seasonal to slightly above seasonal. Nothing crazy warm, but will feel very nice after this extended freezing period, especially with sunshine in the forecast.

Not before a clipper hits us tomorrow, bringing around 5cm.

Something notable is that despite being solidly freezing, our snow depth has reduced from 56 cm on January 26th to 32 cm today. We've had a lot of sunny days and the sun angle is quite a bit higher than December/early January.

7 day: -7/0/0/-2/0/1/1

Nice pics!

My question may look a little stupid, but I’ve never been there yet…
When it’s winter time in Vancouver/Victoria, is only wearing a Pullover generally well enough or you should rather put a winter coat on? lol
I bet it depends of the wind and humidity??

Pictures from the West Coast should be considered as domestic terrorism between February 1st and April 1st.

You should always have a winter coat handy. It can go below zero throughout the winter (next week, for instance), so a pullover won't always suffice. We had a proper cold snap a couple of winters ago, when it went below -10C.

Vancouver is one of the least windy cities in Canada, so you don't have to worry about windchill much, thankfully

Personally, if I were still living in Vancouver, I'd rather have a colder winter where the snow can actually accumulate in the mountains. With a 50% lower than normal snowpack in the Cascades, I wouldn't be surprised if there are more wildfires than usual in the summer, at least wildfires close to Vancouver.

Vancouver's summers are short but glorious. If you miss two weekends because the AQI is bad and you can't see the mountains through the haze, then you've effectively lost a quarter of your summer. I'd rather have a crappy winter than a crappy summer.

I have packed all my heavy winter jackets away already. My mid weight one is still ready to go. But I have only worn a down vest the last couple of weeks now with temps around 0 most day.

The temp and wind we have had this last weekend cleared a lot of snow out. If it was to continue like that for another week or so we would probably loose all of out snow.

I have not packed away my winter driving kit, that does not get stored until mid April. And I probably will take it to Victoria in April just in case.

Currently 5 and party cloudy. But low of -10 by Sat highs of 2.

Sunrise 8:05 am
Sunset 5:32pm

It was cloudy and rainy in Vancouver today, and about 9°C at YVR.

-10C with a wind chill of -17 and sunny. Frigid but at least less wind than yesterday. Now up to 4.5 degrees BELOW normal for the month. Wonderful.

Low of -20C (wind chill of -28) this morning.

The warmspot was Qualicum Beach, BC at 11.0C.

Warmest low were Saturna Island and Race Rocks, BC at 6.6C.

Except, no. Giallo, mcminsen and others frequently post pics of rainy days on here.

Also, 1/3 of days have recorded 0mm of precipitation so far at YVR this year (not 1/10), and many of the days that do still have periods of sun / dry conditions in the morning or afternoon.

It depends on your level of activity. When walking I prefer maybe a shirt with a rain jacket / wind breaker. A hoodie is fine too but you can get sweaty in them if walking fast in the 10 degree range.

-7C and mostly sunny in Moncton at 10 AM, going up to -3C this afternoon.

Snow tomorrow. An incoming Alberta clipper. NS will again be getting the brunt of the snowfall, but, probably 7-8 cm on the way for southeastern NB.

For the first time since January 17th at 4:00 PM - Toronto is above the freezing mark!

0.3 and the sun is poking out. Let the thaw begin!
