Update on the Wells-Wentworth Connector. The new bridge span for the Freeport Sub has been assembled next to its final location, while trains use a pair of temporary jump spans over the new bridge abutments. At some point in the next month or two, they will pull out the jump spans, get rid of the remaining dirt in between, and slide the new bridge into its final position.
For some reason the St Charles Air Line bridge across the river is still inactive, even though all the work on the east side of the river appears complete. Not sure why they haven't reactivated this bridge, but they'll probably put it back in service when they shut down the Freeport Sub for the bridge slide-in.
New bridge span (looks like one more steel member to bolt on after the slide)
New bridge with sacrificial beam, and temporary jump spans
Retaining walls completed
