One Bloor West by Foster + Partners becomes Canada's first supertall skyscraper

Ellen Eberhardt

Quote:
The Foster + Partners-designed One Bloor West skyscraper has reached 300 metres tall in Toronto, making it Canada's first supertall skyscraper and the "tallest residential building in the country to date".

Designed by Foster + Partners with Core Architects and developed by Tridel, One Bloor West is located in Toronto's Yorkville neighbourhood and is set to reach 85 storeys and 308.6 metres (1,012 feet) upon completion.

If you asked me 15 years ago I would have bet our first supertall would have copious amounts of window-wall and balconies!

Nice, congrats Canada.

Occupied space higher than 300 meters outside of US or Asia is still pretty rare globally.

Yup, for as long as i've been into skyscrapers (almost 50 years), First Canadian Place has held the title of Canada's tallest so after decades I didn't think it would ever lose the title but it finally has and on the 50th anniversary too

It sure won't hold the title for long though as Pinnacle One is close behind

Looks so much like one of the dozens of renderings that Sam (RIP) cranked out.

Height increase?

https://storeys.com/the-one-bloor-ne...reys-approved/

Quote:
Council adopted a set of instructions to staff during its June meeting, directing them to accept the settlement offer, effectively approving the new 91-storey plans.

With a new height of 1,077 ft, The One still holds its place as the second-tallest building coming to the Toronto skyline, just behind SkyTower with its proposed height of 1,135 ft.

No that's old news. The increase was approved, but wasn't built.
