An architectural rendering company based in Boise uses the Austin skyline to show one of their building renderings. Guess which building is the rendering?

^^^ Interesting. Wonder who might have commissioned that image, if anyone? No google reverse-image search matches other than the original source, but it almost looks like something a NIMBY group would commission to oppose a particular zoning change or something.

I would say it's just an example piece with Austin chosen as a random city backdrop, but the choice of location does strike me as a bit odd.

Here's another one from that link. What site would you think that could depict? Waller Park Place? Lakeside Apartments?

It looks like a best case scenario for an updated version of 405 Colorado.

That's a beautiful design. Too bad we'll never get anything like it.

Exactly. That is the site of the mothballed 99 Trinity project.

However, I would not go jumping for joy...WCCG does not have the wherewithal to develop something like the depicted, 1000+ ft. tower.

I love the building. The only change I would suggest is to extend the glass façade down to grade level.

Got a custom fire pit made for my parents. It says 1837 instead of 1836 because that's the year our Galbreaths moved to Texas.

That is beautiful! I have so many friends that would be jealous of that pit dude, myself included. What did your parents say when you gave it to them? I'm gonna assume it's a gift for an occasion such as their 50th anniversary?

Wow. That's beautiful. It's definitely more fancy than my hole in the ground surrounded with limestone.

Thanks!

My parents loved it. Their bdays are in February just days apart. Dad turning 70, and they are building a new home in the country. Mom had mentioned she wanted a fire pit. This opportunity popped up by chance on shaggytexas.

Y'all should see the ones he does that are complete spheres. Insane, Deathstar looking pits.

That's awesome!

I've seen some wild BBQ pits, smokers, and fire pits...some are a bit over the top for me, but creative nonetheless. A lot of folks don't realize the craftsmanship that is needed to make those.

The long awaited trailer for Terrence Malick's Song to Song movie with an impressive cast and the Austin music scene as the backdrop has been released. As with most Terrence Malick films, this was years in the making. I remember when this was filming in SoCo and during Fun Fun Fun Fest several years ago. The skyline shot in the trailer is circa 2011 because the Bowie isn't even U/C. This is the opening film for SXSW this year.
