The economy is white hot, low unemployment, lower taxes, relatively low rates.
However...many buyers don't want to buy at what they perceive to be the 'top of the market' and 2008 is fresh in the memories of everybody. Builders recognize the business cycle [or at least should] and don't want to be caught with a half built bundling with zero buyers out there due to a depressed market.
In an environment that is pointing only towards rising rates [alongside higher debts] this is a precarious situation and I think that's why President Trump has been speaking out against the Federal Reserve and their rate hike forecast, it will likely lead us into a recession.
