I think if they could bring in some of the brands you mentioned, they could compete with Metrotown. There aren't a lot of first-to-market (or second) stores opening over there, and because there is so little space available in the mall, they can't bring in new retailers very quickly.

Maybe if Brentwood can ink some deals with the types of brands you see at South Granville or Park Royal, it would work. I'm thinking along the lines of Anthropoligie, H&M Home, Urban Outfitters, like you said. I could also see Crate & Barrel, Free People, and Rockport doing well for example.

As for the other retailers you mentioned that aren't in Vancouver yet, pretty much all of them are either about to open, or are waiting for the right space to become available. Some, like Mango, might never come though unless they see sales increase at their one or two existing stores.

When u mention tower 3, is it the one at Alpha/Lougheed ? Which is actually phase 3 the way I understood it.
Or do u mean the one at Halifax/Willingdon which is infact phase 2.
Btw Alpha/Lougheed is slated for 2 towers, are they only building one?
More questions than answers.

wait... Uniqlo has opened in Canada, and Vancouver with the largest Japanese population (% and in sheer number) did not receive a location? WTF?

They haven't opened yet. The first two locations announced are in Toronto, but they don't open until Fall 2016 according to Retail Insider. Vancouver is the other city to see them in the first round of openings. Our first store(s) could very well open first. From what I know, they were very close to signing a lease, but I don't know if they are any closer to one now.

As for Brentwood, I doubt we would see one here...

Alpha/Lougheed, next to tower 2. I only get plans for one tower at a time, there will be more.

this document has a bunch of information on the southeast phase, including a rendering of tower 3 on page 33

I am really digging the third tower, it's a lot sleeker than the first two and it maximizes the number of units facing North

I am guessing this tower will also be over 150 meters? With 3 towers in this project, 2 is Solo (?), The Sovereign, and maybe 1 or 2 from Station Square (that development sure became a disappointment with height reductions while every other project in Burnaby seemed to go taller) it looks like Burnaby will have more towers over 150 meters (true skyscrapers) than Vancouver soon.

On page 15 it shows that Tower 3 is planned to be 35 to 55 stories, looks like the rendering is showing 55 stories or so. Who knows if it will happen, but at 55 stories it would easily be 170 metres possibly 180 metres (I won't hold my breath on it staying at ~55).

I also love the rendering of building 3 very slick! However, as per usual, the materials used will dictate how the final product turns out.

It does seem somewhat inevitable that Burnaby will eventually have more 150 metre plus towers than Vancouver as a lot of relatively recent towers in Vancouver have been falling just short (MNP, Fairmont, Shaw) as it seems Vancouver is the king of the 120 to 145 metre towers.

Hopefully one day both cities will have a couple dozen towers over 150 metres. I would just like to see Vancouver get a few office towers above 150 metres (150 to 250 metres) at some point in my lifetime.

.whatever they do, please do not cheapen it. there are plenty of middle class
people who are willing to pay a more for the right quality, location etc.
Hope they do not design 350 sf suites in order to fill it fast.
Excited to see what kind of floor plans, especially the north facing units.
Brentwood is arguably the most promising large scale development in the whole metro Vancouver

Great design - harking back to the lozenge-shaped BC Hydro Building on Burrard Street (but with balconies),
and to a lesser extent, the MetLife (Pan Am) Building in NYC.

And, as with the first 2 Brentwood towers, and Wave in Surrey, you can see from the shadowing on the balconies in the rendering,
that the wrap-around balconies will hide the variations in the curtain wall (i.e. hide the protruding parts and recesses),
making the tower look more stream-lined (and satisfying LEED requirements limiting solar gain).

Am I correct in assuming that Tower 4 might be a "twin"?
Since they are both positioned as gateway towers to the mall underground entrance?

some more information

there will be 51 storeys
523 units
height from base to top of parapet is 595'10" (181.6m)

note that tower 1 and 2 are 630' 3 1/4" (192m) from base to top of parapet

looks like tower 4 will be 40 storeys max

Are the heights incorrect in the thread title for Tower 1&2? Your numbers are higher, which is awesome - just curious who's right.

Absolutely love Tower3 - I hope its built exactly as rendered.

I think i figured out the differences

Tower 3 plans was using a different base elevation, so the height was slightly different.

If it helps, the actual elevations are

Tower 1 767'1" (233.8m) top of parapet
Tower 1 155' (47.2m) (lobby on Willingdon)
Tower 2 767'1" (233.8m) top of parapet
Tower 2 146' (44.5m) lower lobby on Lougheed
Tower 3 735' (224m) top of parapet
Tower 3 139'2" (42.4m) Lougheed retail level

I guess it all depends on where we start.

233.8m?!?

Where are you getting these measurements from?

Those are actual elevations above sea level, not heights.

I would think that Brentwood is more than 155' above sea level, though?
But I guess it is down the hill from Hastings...

The ground elevation at the northeast corner of Willingdon and Lougheed is around 138'
