They are planning an addition to the Lutz Mountain Meeting House at the top end of Mountain Road.



Kitchen, washrooms and a large covered porch at the rear of the building.

I seem to recall hearing that the meeting house got some federal cultural funding earlier this year. Presumably this is what it was for.

I wonder if they are planing to change out the doors from an automatic slider to doors you have to pull open. Otherwise I think customers are going to get breezes of cold air all winter. lol

But other then that with there new sign they seem to fit in very well.

well if the extension is as it looks on the Notes It will match up well, and not look so out of place like most extensions seem to in my opinion.

Bell Aliant will not re-open its fire-damaged building on Mapleton Road, a move that opens up some prime real estate in a busy retail area.

A friend of mine works at Aliant and they are renovating at their Albert street office to accommodate the staff moving there.

This should be a highly sought after property for redevelopment - it's flat, with a large footprint and right smack dab in the middle of the Mapleton Road retail district.

The trouble is that there has been a lot of carnage in the retail sector continent wide over the last year, and there is already a lot of land available for development elsewhere on Mapleton Road, all currently lying fallow. Also, with the presumed move of Costco to Harrisville Blvd within the next 2-3 years, this places the future of the entire retail cluster on Mapleton in some question. I'm not sure how this will all play out for Bell Aliant's dreams of a quick sale........

Seen today what looks like a new sign for a new plaza on Mapleton Road. This was between the new tims/Circle K and the entrance to Day & Ross. It looked to be more than one building.

That's probably for the latest iteration of Plaza 599, a mostly failed development which incorporates the Timmies/Circle K/Irving.



This has been floating around for the last 5-6 years or so, in various configurations, none of which has generated much interest in possible tenants.

Big League Burgers is now closed at Plaza 1909 and the signage has been removed.

Work is progressing furiously on the Sports Rock in Valhalla Place. They are currently redoing the entrance where the old NBLC loading bay was located. This is supposedly going to be the entrance to the relocated Big League Burgers. It seems too small to be a full restaurant. I wonder if the new Big League will only be a take-out joint????

I was actually wondering the same thing but when I asked I got a "They would be using the same kitchen"

So I'm guessing Big leagues will in fact be Sports Rocks "Take Away" entrance sort of.I say sort of since they don't have 100% the same menu, and don't taste the same at all. At least to me.

Signage has been removed from the now closed Big League Burger and should be installed at its new location at 1855 Mountain Road aby day. It has a posted reopening date of April 3rd. They will be in the remodeled loading dock area of the old NB Liquor with Sports Rock in the front. Sports Rock will be open 24 hours.

Glad they;ll be open around the clock, and why not? If you're going to be open until 2 a.m. or 3, then reopen for breakfast only two or three hours later, might as well stay open.

I think the city should buy the custom sportswear shop and the house between it and meadowdale drive to make an intersection with lonsdale. could make an intersection there with lights. that would help ALOT there I think.

If they did that the intersection on Meadodale side would look like the weird connection on killam at Jonathan, and Bingham.

Otherwise they would have to buy out potential 6 maybe 7 lots to be able to make a gentle curve, and proper intersection.

But I do like the idea of straightening out that intersection, and having lights would make the intersection easier to use, and safer potentially.

I will agree with you there! Berry Mills Road, becomes Killiam, which becomes Connaught which becomes Morton which becomes Mill Road.

In Halifax, Barrington St crosses over Barrington St.
North-bound, Barrington St. becomes Upper Water St then merges back onto Barrington!

The best one I can think of though is Atlanta. There are something like 50 streets named Peachtree. There's an intersection where you can stand at the corner of Peachtree and West Peachtree.

The new Big League Burgers & Wings, associated with the Sports Rock is not yet open, but it is getting close. Here's a picture of the new Big League, taken through the front window. It will be primarily a take out joint, but there is some interior seating. It actually doesn't look too bad......

Big League Burger & Wings is now open for business. Their sign has been delayed but they are open now.

BLBW is now the first place in the city to have a coke fresstyle machine offering over 100 options for beverages.

Wharf Village is closing forever, and this will be the end. There lease is ending, and all buildings, Restaurant Equipment, Store fixtures, and even the left over souvenirs. are to be auctioned off April 29th, 2017

I'm wondering if it will be replaced by anything or just left empty after all is auctioned off.
