Holy crap, if you're afraid of the Motel Village area then you've got issues that you need help with. Nothing sketchy about that area at all.

No way, there is nothing more sketchy than people from out of town!

So just because one area of the NW might be unsafe makes you prejudge all of the NW to be unsafe? Wow. I live in the NW and it's the safest quadrant in the city. Even motel village is safe from my experience.

My brother in law is serving a 104 month sentence for bank robbery at the prison in Michigan City, Indiana.

They published their names in another outlet, maybe the Herald, so I poked around facebook like I always do when I see names, and if the ones I found are the same as the ones in the article, yes, definitely money there. Bottle service types with expensive taste.

Probably rich suburban kids whose parents gave them money and material goods instead of love and attention. I suspect their defense will be that they did it to feed their prescription drug addiction.

Don't have anyone on ignore - it just that you make yourself an easier target. Jimby shows himself as being sort of special by his statement as well.

As far as sketchy parts in Calgary, I don't find there are any or at least compared to what there was in Calgary some 25-30 years ago and certainly compared to other large cities I've been in. Yeah, you might need to mind your own business a bit more at certain times in certain parts of Calgary but Motel Village - c'mon folks, let's get real here.

Isn't Motel Village where the good citizens of the NW get their hookers and blow so they don't have to get scared driving downtown?

They used to but the internet has made driving for those things obsolete. Now you don't even have to leave your safe room, they come to you.

Downtown ring busted - 51 criminal charges laid

Downtown bust

Quote:
According to a statement from ALERT, one of the residences, an apartment in Mission, was being used as a cocaine conversion lab to cook cocaine into crack. A hydraulic cocaine press was seized from the apartment along with other evidence of drug trafficking.

In another location, an apartment on 17th Avenue, investigators found a.357 Magnum revolver with the serial number defaced. Ammunition and other weapons, including a collapsible baton, brass knuckles and body armour were seized.

ALERT also seized cash and cars with more than $30,000 in cash proceeds of crime and two luxury model SUVs now being submitted to the province’s civil forfeiture office.

The couple were arrested at a downtown condominium. Of the 51 charges, most are related to drugs, but include weapons offences, proceeds of crime and breach of recognizance.

cocaine.
methamphetamine.
heroin.
GHB.
Fentanyl.
cannabis resin.
Phenacetin.
And more details in the Herald:

Schiavetta added that most of the business took place in Calgary’s inner city, “and in the possession of a handgun. Obviously it’s very concerning to public safety.”
That's two for the East Beltline / Lower Mount Royal area and one for the West End of the core.

The two arrestees:

Meth and crack dealers shouldn't have facebook pages with almost no privacy control but they're busy people as you can see. Having a lab in an apartment building doesn't seem like the smartest thing.

They were simply set-up where the demand was.

If you're planning to be a criminal, you should be incognito. No social media!

Jimby was obviously mocking Suburbia's ridiculous anti-urban banter and not making a serious point about the NW being dangerous.

Actually, it was I that was mocking Jimby's fear of the NW inner city.

Then they should have rented a detached hovel somewhere. The abundance of grow-ops in the suburbs suggests that some people get it. This was just incompetent beyond description which is of course why they were caught and corralled at three separate apartments. If you want to run a DRUG LAB you don't do it in a fucking apartment building!
