I don't know...Judging by bayou's avatar, I'm thinking it has to do with the Mardi Gras park space.

I don't know why you just can't tell us bayou!

Enjoyed the pictures, spookyapp!

Full article here.
This is from that article, talking about Thyssenkrupp:

"Construction has begun, and when completed, it will be the largest free-standing building in North America."

Is that true?! I had no idea.

Musicisright, I noticed that. It is going to be something else.

In the Lagniappe article it mentioned that the Thyssenkrupp project was "purported to be the largest economic development project of the decade in the U.S."

Sorry just got my power back on ,it blew 75mph on da island tonight. Im ok though , just some limbs down..............

Musicisright is(no pun) right about my avatar, its the proposed condo for Baton Rouge. DAMN, I just wish Mayor Jones would realalize u can build this baby and his beloved park on the old court house site.Thats one big piece of land!

OK...a couple things it's getting late

1) Did anyone else see Sundays paper in the Real Estate section? The company(Cowart Hospitalty) that is building the Hampton Inn on Royal Street, Has Bought a Half a block next to the Parking Garage(sp? its late) on the corner of Royal and St Louis Streets. In addition they are leasing two other lots next to it. Hope they have some big plans for this prime Real Estate.

2) Here is your homework for the day ! ....(251-438-4000) Ive left messages and neaux response. When calling the Riverview on the height of the HOTEL with the addition to the crown. The info im getting on the internet, that this might be the second or 3rd tallest building in the Heart of Dixie

3) Ok... as I reported last night on the top secret news, The plans are in the works and hopefully ground breaking on the Hotel Tower by the summer!

The only thing!!!That is holding it up now is the Damn city zoning ordance(sp?) for the church street area My source only gave few details on the project....but i did get this out of him... About how many stories the addition will have.

........

From what I remember, a Hilton was mentioned^.

Also, I've heard rumblings of Frontier Airlines service to Denver from Mobile. If this were to happen, I think you would see 2x Embraer 175 service to Denver. Baton Rouge has Frontier (I haven't been able to use them, however), but I feel they are doing moderately well over here.

That's great! Is it going to be the same architecture as the original?

Frontier announced that they were pulling the plug on BTR later this year. I think that MOB could really support the service to DEN. It is the highest yielding airport of the Gulf Coast, and has responded well to increased western service (AA has grown from four flights to ten since they came, and CO has done exceptional since they increased the capacity that DL pulled after Katrina.) Plus, Frontier is a low-fare carrier. If Mobile could make this work, it would bode well for future service, as airline planners still remember the AirTran and Mobile fiasco.

It's rumored that Mobile will be the future location of a Hyatt Place hotel. Perhaps they will choose a Downtown site.

I WISH Mobile could support Frontier Airlines, but if Baton Rouge can't then i highly doubt we could.
Baton Rouge's newspaper says, "According to Metro Airport figures, Frontier’s two daily flights averaged about 2,860 passengers per month between September and January, just shy of the airport’s projected average of 3,320....Business was good enough that Frontier previously announced a third flight would be added next month.

The problem, Hodas said, was that most local fliers don’t travel past Denver, which is how discount airlines typically make money.

“The traffic to Denver is pretty good, but for the routes to be successful, we’ve got to get a mix,” he said. “We just weren’t seeing that."...When the city began negotiating with Frontier in 2005, oil was around $65 a barrel. Since then, prices have risen to near $100 a barrel."

Itd be great if Mobile could get it, especially since it drove down the prices in Baton Rouge by 27%, and everyone knows Mobile's flights are outrageous, but I just don't think it would happen (at least not when fuel is so high)
