Rode Sunshine on Saturday, great early season conditions, even some nice powder stashes if you're willing to work to get it.

Has anybody tried Whistler yet this season? Their base sounds low for this time of year and am wondering if it's worth the day trip yet.

Some friends were at Revy for opening day last weekend, apparently it was beyond epic! Really hope to get out to that hill at some point this season!

I skied it once just after it opened in 2008, it's not as well known a hill but the snow conditions up there are consistently amazing from what I hear from friends in the BC interior who hit it up a fair bit. Deep powder for days.

Locally Whitewater near Nelson is open. Red Mountain near Rossland will open next weekend. It is supposed to snow around here all week next week.

Count your blessings. As of just a day or so ago, roughly 10% of Whistler was open.

Asking myself why I rushed to get my winter tires put on!

It's dumping in the Rockies and Columbias right now, all the hills accessible from Calgary are going to be mint this weekend. Revy looks really good too, 26cm today and another 38cm through the week.

LOL! It must be the Albertan blood in me. Hard to shake that. I've done enough white-knuckle winter driving there to eventually get religion and get on the winter tire bandwagon.

I swapped Nokians onto my old Volvo 740 turbo when I lived down there in late ‘90s.. lots or trips up the Coq to the Okanagan. Everyone’s saying “you don’t need winters in Vancouver” well when it snows two inches and everyone is running their cars up onto meridians and the city comes to a grinding halt because no one knows how to drive in a skiff of snow, I beg to differ

Real Albertans don’t use snow tires, toques or gloves
