While good news for the Oilers, you never want to hear something like this.

Canucks' Brock Boeser expected to miss Game 7 with blood clotting issue

As a Leafs fan, it's incredibly frustrating to see Vancouver's players emulate our playoff performances the last two games. Sympathy to the Canucks supporters; I hope they can pull it off in the third, but we in Toronto know what it feels like to see your stars do a disappearing act when it counts.

EDIT: The fact they almost battled back makes it even worse. If it's any consolation, there's plenty of misery to go round in the country.

The sympathy is appreciated, though I think a more appropriate analogy to Canucks is the sharks. At least Canucks can make it past round one

Canucks looked like stiffs for more than 2 periods. This did not look like a 3-2 game... could easily have been 6-1. Feels sorry for those wild and crazy fans.

I'm not really feeling the misery as a Canucks fan. They weren't expected to do anything this year, and getting to a game 7 in the second round is beyond expectations. Contrast that with the Leafs, who always have "this year's our year!" expectations and then end up wildly missing them.

Let's go Dallas!

Tough loss for Vancouver, but the season can still be considered a huge success.

Really tough luck for Brock, hope it can be dealt with and he's back next year.

Dallas should handle the Oilers in about 6 games. They are built like the Canucks but healthy and better.

Dallas is the deepest team in the league and will be a very real test of Edmonton's D, will and resolve.

I could see Dallas in 5 or Edmonton in 7 if I am being honest.

Will the Canucks be able to ice pretty much the same team next year? There are a few contracts coming up (Lindholm and Zadorov obviously), not sure how much cap space they have.

They will probably lose Lindholm if he wants big money. Ideally they can dump some dead weight like Mikheyev too. The team would like to pickup somebody like Tanev, and maybe lose Hronek.

They also have some good prospects in the system.

Lindholm will probably sign for $7-8mil. He was looking for $9+ here, but had a mediocre season, so I could see him taking less.

ABE for me

Actually, it would be cool to see the Cup paraded down Broadway again - been 30 years now since Messier & crew did it in NYC.

Some small consolation for the Canucks, Rick Tocchet won the Jack Adams Award.

^well deserved!

In other news, a certain Florida goalie stole a game tonight.

Curious and pumped to see how the Oilers stack up against the Stars tomorrow.

I say Oilers in 7...Connor Mcdavid has decided it's time to win the Stanley Cup. Dial it in Stu. And let's mention the impact of Paul Coffey on the mindset of this team. Bouchard is a Coffey clone, Nurse is looking like he is almost worth the money, Kulak has never played this well, Desharnais is the PK rock, Ceci has confidence in his role and Ekholm is the rear guard admiral. And the forwards have learned to take the player in the slot and back check. Keep to the discipline.

He was a beast as a player and as a coach he certainly is impressive. He's a good strategist, but also a good bench boss.

Indeed. The Canucks are lucky to have him.

I'm really looking forward to the game tonight. I always go for the underdogs, and yeah, as a Canucks fan, I'm not supposed to root for the Oilers, but I am. My sister and her family are huge Oilers fans, and after spending a week in Edmonton, the fanbase there is next level.

Going to the big D to get a W (dubya).

Both teams were guilty for puck watching & giveaways for goals. I expect the Stars will change things up in Game 2. A 5-1 PP discrepancy cannot happen in the WCF when both teams played evenly. Oilers win against the refs and the Stars. The Oilers are very good at disrupting play with their sticks. They push attackers to the outside. They’re dangerous when given the neutral zone. That was a huge confidence builder for Skinner.
