Great progress.
Hopefully cladding begins and they clean up the area a bit before the WC

I wonder if all the bracing on the Robson side will come down before the World Cup?
It may not since the work trailers are there.
Hopefully they at least reinstate the sidewalk on Cambie with overhead protection.

I wonder how open that area will be with the security perimeter for the stadium.

There is a game day closure of one block of Beatty, and that block of Robson, but there will be no access into the stadium from Beatty Street and Robson Street, so it may not matter much.

Everything is focused on Pacific Boulevard, which is closed for weeks, and Granville (which will be pedestrianized on game days) and the PNE Fan Zone.

Ahh, thanks for the reminder.

That's the DP for the rezoning that allowed the hotel to add a few floors. In the boomtown days of the early 1910s it was quite common for a development to be approved at two or three storeys, and then to have a couple more added while the lower floors were under construction, but it hasn't happened like that for a century.

It'll be possible to see the taller floor in the middle of the building to show the original intended top floor. It's a bit unexpected to see them just add four more floors on top, rather than revisit the entire building.

Does anyone remember what the white panels on the hotel are? Either way I think it's going to look incredibly boring, but at least if it's metal panels instead of fibre cement, it won't like boring and cheap.

Edit: just saw that on the first page it's described as cementious panels, so that's disappointing. Isn't this supposed to be "luxury"? I assume the condo uses the same panels as hotel

Not sure if it's for Block or a new project but it looked like the presentation centre was getting work done on it.

Sometimes metal panels look cheap if they 'oilcan'.
Personally, I like precast panels on towers as they add substance (even if a step below granite or limestone).

Stop work order issued. They've built two floors over the six approved in the building permit.
Permit hasn't yet been amended to include the newest design with 10 floors. The DP isn't even issued yet for that amended design.
I guess they didn't care and just went ahead with building the additional floors, or it was a major oversight.
