Now that I think about it, all the best projects are from out of town. This one, the Marriott, 400 Albert, 1451 Wellington, Zibi (Windmill's O building wasn't great, but things generally improved when Dream stepped-in).
Big reason I would rather 900 Albert or other Lebreton phases/districts get sold off to big time developers from Vancouver or Toronto, we need something new and fresh from them and something that actually gets done.

Agreed. I though 900 Albert looked relatively basic even when it was proposed initially. Now it just looks tired and outdated. Buildings such as these, a once in a generation transformation of the skyline, need to be done right, and Trinity ain't the ones to do that.

I'm pretty sour on Trinity as well. I guess we will see what happens if their project at Richmond and Island Park is approved. Renders look nice enough.

Been working beside this place for the last 2 weeks. Not much has changed. Very quiet on site.

I imagine the contracts were different between demolition prep and the actual build.

I believe my hunch is likely correct. Prep/Demo work contracts are pretty much done and they are waiting for start dates for construction.

We already are. Many of the towers that were approved but not going up are probably in that boat.

From Rimap's website. Don't know if this offers more info than what we already had.

Side note, WWI started in 1914. Major was not built during WWI.

MOXY MARRIOTT OTTAWA
A 222-room hotel in Ottawa, the Moxy Marriott will be aptly located in downtown Ottawa’s Byward Market, an area located east of the government and business district, buzzing with retail and entertainment. Moxy Ottawa is slated to open in 2024 and will be just steps away from RIMAP’s AC Hotel by Marriott Ottawa property – announced in 2019 and currently under construction.

The Moxy Ottawa will feature stylish guestrooms with custom furnishings. Plans also call for eclectic public spaces, a street-side restaurant, and the playful Bar Moxy concept, which allows guests to check-in at the lobby bar. The property will boast industrial-chic characteristics by utilizing and preserving the existing structure of the historical S.J. Major Warehouse – a heritage property built in 1913 during the First World War.

We can only hope. A bland hotel building with no street interaction and large surface parking lot. Even the City's parking garage on Clarence has more personality.

Well that's concerning. Open the building to the elements, then abandon it.

Hoping this is just an extended holiday break. They started the Rideau Marriott pretty quickly and have completed many projects in Montreal, so no reason to think Rimap would just abandon an ongoing project.

We are in a totally different environment with higher rates and falling prices. That said there was some heavy equipment working today so seems to be back on.

East Market Lofts was the very first of the new generation of condos in this city, and in my opinion is still one of the finest looking projects.

Sidewalk presence of East Market is a bit lacking but I do like the project overall.

And yes there is indeed a crane up for this site. I noticed that earlier this afternoon.

Interesting. Seems we had a lot of reports of no activity over the last few months, yet they were able to complete excavation very quickly.
