IMHO this one turned out very poorly. It looks so cheap next to Metropole. I'd even describe it as 'institutional' looking. I really hope it gets lost in the mix sooner rather than later.

Yup... It went from this to this. It's a big disappointment...

Yup. Looks terrible. The design was drastically changed after construction was started (how's that even allowed?) They couldn't even build the bland final design right.

At least, with the half dozen or so towers proposed along Scott, a few of them taller with far better designs, this one might not stand out too much.

It kind of reminds me of one of the many student rental buildings in Waterloo.

Bait and switch

I think we've all been excited by all the development in Ottawa over the last couple of years but the quality of build has been really poor. This includes condos but, more often, the rental buildings under construction. Unfortunately, with so many rentals going up we are going to see a certain quality of project....and it's not good (Lisgar, Trailhead, Envie)

It's just sad that Metropole is 16 years older than this tower and looks 16 times better.

I'm glad it will continue to the most prominent tower in the Westboro skyline for years to come. Too bad Minto doesn't build more condo towers in Ottawa; Metropole and Upper West are the only two I can think of in the last 20 years.

Both very nice buildings. I think the taller tower at Lansdowne is also Minto.

Oh yes, I forgot about Lansdowne. That's all Minto. Yet another high quality project (the two condo towers, at least).

Looks even worse when appearing next to Minto Metropole.

Updated Streetview imagery (June 2022)

PonyBoyCurtis says this one is complete, and judging by the furniture on the balconies, I'd have to agree. Thx, PBC!

Wow that building sucks. Looks like something from the 90's, in Brampton...

At least this one doesn't have the cross patterns. Both of these buildings are frankly embarrassing for our city, and we have DOZENS more of them in the pipeline.

This building does in fact look better than Story. Those crosses... what an idiotic idea.

While this building is a travesty I do appreciate its simplicity in the sense that it stays in its own lane and has clean lines. It's low key ugly as opposed to in your face ugly.

Luckily, we have quite a few GOOD designs coming down the pipeline along Scott, including at least one great RLA design... as long as they are not bait-and-switched like this one.

This thing will just be another beat on the EKG monitor from the Gatineau side soon enough.

Has anyone gone to the QC side opposite of Britannia area and milled around the rapids area with that crazy cormorant island? Ottawa is starting to resemble an EKG monitor around the transit stations. It's pretty sweet when you know what you are looking at. It's all I can think of seeing the nodes around the transit stations.

Glad the Scott EKG won't quite flat line like the CBD EKG!
