Exactly, it will be one of the new, non-skyscraper icons of the city. It's interesting to watch this begin to take shape along with the New York Wheel on Staten Island. New York is never done, so everything you think you know about NY is just part of a larger story still being told (think of it that way).
This structure, like the NY Wheel, like the new parks and attractions being built around the city, after they're built and have taken their rightful place in the city fabric, will seem as natural as the Empire State or Central Park in belonging here. There was a time when NY didn't have those either. I'm sure there were those who thought putting that statue of a woman in the harbor (of all places), was a ridiculous idea too. There's a critic for everything.
