Agreed, and also agree that it's a nice tower overall.

We received an update on HAIF about this project today. There's good news and bad news.

Bad News: The project is delayed indefinitely (no 3Q 2015 start date, no construction timeline.)

Good News: The project is now at 58-floors and will be the third tallest building when completed.

Is it still 58 floors as you mentioned earlier?

if 50 floors was 830 feet this could be supertall or even a new tallest. Where did you get that info from anyway? Third tallest in the city (meaning between 900+ and 990 feet could easily go above 1000)

At this point, the only way I'll believe the 2016 start is when dirt is moving.

Me not sure, but it was mentioned on HAIF (Houston-based forum) from someone who knew more inside details & the latest on the project.

So why do you suppose on a slow news day when the price of WTI dropped 2 bucks Chevron decided to say they are "committed" to this tower? Granted it's not some developer trying to goose some leases, but it seems like an odd time for an update.

Here's the height of the building at 52-floors. Please take note that this form to the FAA was submitted before the tower was put on hold. The height and floor count is still rumored to be higher now.

At 859' FT, this building would become the 4th tallest in the state; 3rd tallest tower in the city.

Determined Case for ASN 2013-ASW-7883-OE

LOL. Fourth tallest in the city and third tallest in the state? But seriously, it's really exciting to see a big oil company put their HQ in downtown and not go to the suburbs like Exxonmobil did. I hope this turns out to be a supertall!

Ha yea he meant fourth tallest in the state third in the city of course

If they add floors I don't see why they wouldn't shoot for tallest

^^Yea, just giving Urbannizer a hard time. I would imagine that they would want to shot for the tallest but anything this tall would be great.

They have only to build it taller than what Ross Perot's planning in Dallas.

The San Ramon, California-based company will also cut 500 jobs at its headquarters, 50 international jobs and 600 contractor jobs, the Times reports. About 270 of the cuts are vacant posts that Chevron won't fill.

The job cuts are expected to be complete by November, according to the Times.

They've filed for an extension with the FAA. Latest start is set for September 2016. If work does not commence by then, they will have to file a new case with the FAA as only one extension is allowed.

A Look at Chevron's Planned Downtown Tower

Quote:
Designed by American firm HOK, the new tower is known as 1600 Louisiana in reference to its location along Louisiana Street which is immediately adjacent to Chevron's two existing properties. At 52 storeys and 262 metres in height, it could become Houston's third tallest building if completed by 2018, as currently scheduled. However, the recent economic downturn experienced by the energy sector might significantly delay the completion of the building, which currently plans to start construction in September 2016.

Yeah, going to toss this one into the graveyard. If something new pops up it’ll be resurrected.
