I really hope buildings still happen, but the developer needs to pay the difference in assessments. A taller tower at this location would work so well.

By the way, what is that other gray tower in the Vancouver Sun article?

We've seen at least three designs for this tower

Good to see Gregor have his ass handed to him by the courts. No civic government should be taking part in secret deals.

As expected, just when something architecturally exciting is about to happen, it is shelved due to a million reasons this city and its inhabitants can come up with. Well, let's just be content with the current Jubilee House, and an abandoned construction site across the street.

If anything this tower would improve the aesthetic of the park compared to the current eye sore that is the jubilee house. Gotta love the NIMBYs

I went by the site of the new Jubilee House about 4 PM today and didn't see anyone. According to the notice posted on the fence, they have until 5:00 PM tomorrow to secure the site.

I hope this project is abandoned in perpetuity so that those 'new yaletown' guys can gawk at it. Too bad for Brenhill though.

City of Vancouver has decided to appeal the Court's verdict on shutting down the construction.

http://metronews.ca/news/vancouver/1...n-development/

Coincidentally, New Yaletown, the group that brought the City to court, is urgently appealing to the public right now for donations as it has no more funds to pay for legal fees to fight the CoV. Just for kicks, only 94 people "like" their Facebook site.

So... the city should be able to waste our tax dollars in court to beat up on poor people who can't afford to defend themselves? Sounds fair.

Majority of Vancouverites vote Vision and other councillors in. Although I agree that the City should be more transparent, not all secret deals are bad. New Yaletown wasted our dollars by suing the City in the first place. Foregoing both these projects means a loss of a kindergarten and improved social housing for the crumbling Jubilee House. FYI, the New Yaletown folks are not poor at all, but basically NIMBYs who raise money from lies they tell. The City has the right to fight against these folks, especially since they claim that the new condo will destroy Emery Barnes Park, citing that shadowing would be an issue. Well, guess what, unless the sun rises from the north sets south, shadowing won't be an issue. So yeah, I say go ahead and use my tax dollars for some good work.

If you guys want to see this project move forward, take 30 seconds out of your day and sign this petition. My autofill actually filled it in so it took me less than 10 seconds.

Here's a sign I saw today on the old Jubilee House. Not sure how long it's been there but note the new public hearing date of April 14.

Both 1099 Richards and 508 Helmcken passed tonight. 8-2 for 1099 and 7-3 for 508 Helmcken
