I was curious to get an update from Ontarians on the demolition in downtown Brantford (all articles online seem to be from summer of 2010, and they say the province wants to stop the city from doing it)...

Unbelievable... There isn't a single surface parking lot left to fill in the entire Hamilton area?!?!? (And even if there weren't, there'd STILL be plenty of things to tear down before 150 years old stone rows...)

I'm sure it must have looked a lot more run down than in that photo by the time it was demolished (feel free to correct me on that), but one of the biggest asthetic problems with Southcore in my opinion is that there's too much glass and not enough stone. A building like this would be very welcome.

interestingly, the city of Montreal tried its best to prevent the demolition of the Old Port Fire station, but it's the Old Port Society, a federal institution, who had the last word. Being on a federal historic site, it could do what it wants with the building, regardless of the city's position. All this, just to make more parkings.

Jesus, Insane how much nicer Old Montreal looks today. Thank goodness they moved most of the port facilities out east, it really does make a difference!
