NO!!!
It's bad enough that they decide to scale down the floors after a great redesign that only improves the appearance of the building. It would be worse if they decide to scale down another hopeful development.

Well, I'm making an assumption. This area of the city is not a place, people from the city usually buy their condos. It's mainly an investor driven area, so these types of sales are beginning to die off in Toronto. So it might be a harder sell at 70 floors x 2, and 75 floors. But, lets wait and see. If the developer has the stamina to hold on for a 6 month to 1 year period extra, they will likely sell the units.

But time is money, man.

My worst nightmare..............

The two towers have been reduced from 70 stories to 62 and 66 stories.

Also, the towers are no longer rounded but 5 sided polygons.


Seems like all they want to do is make everything look alike.
Oh the irony, in a city that's supposed to be the most diverse.

They haven't been rounded for a while.. The hieghts are now 233m, 223m, and 173m.

As long as they're an improvement on the standard Toronto condo. The last thing this city needs are 2 more cookie cutter glass towers. This area desperately needs colour and a material other than glass. It's starting to look like Vancouver down there.

The diagram doesn't say much and is hard to really figure out the look of the towers. Supposedly they are to be 5-sided polygons.

What was the reasoning for the height reduction? If anything, they should be building 90+ storey condos at this location and not decreasing the heights.

Exactly! This is prime location with fantastic views. You'd think they'd want to make the most of that.

I believe only the office component is being developed at this time. However, I am assuming that they will work on the underground for the entire site and then possibly cap the two residential towers until they hit that sales figure.

It'll take 2 years from them to go down and get back up.

Right, a few floors were sliced off and they were reduced to 764 ft and 735 ft, which is isn't much of a height truncation. I believe the original heights were also under 800 ft.
Hopefully, as caltrane implies, they will sell well enough that by the time the excavation is complete they can just go ahead with all three.

This is a huge site, it makes U condo look like a lot for a doghouse.

Good point. If it is in fact 2 years to get above ground, I am sure (as you mentioned) that Harbour Plaza will have sold enough by then, especially judging by the success of Ten York.

Though RBC Waterpark Place III is a much smaller site, that broke ground on Feb 6th of this year and is inching near ground. It all depends on how much machinery and workers are on site. I think we could see ground level much sooner than 2 years - esp for the office portion. I guess only time will tell

Waterpark Place is built on Water, more so than Harbour Plaza and 1 York.
