Does the same group own the land across Cambie that is in the midst of re-zoning?

I think it's just poorly worded. This project only ever involved two towers.

Wesgroup is behind that project, and the site immediately to the east of MC^2 (also undergoing rezoning) is owned by Concord Pacific.

Interesting public art news for the MC2 project.

Douglas Coupland to create replica of Hollow Tree for development at Marine Drive and Cambie
By Kevin Griffin, Vancouver Sun March 12, 2014 1:29 PM

VANCOUVER - A full-scale replica of the Hollow Tree in Stanley Park will be going into the new condominium and retail development at Marine Drive and Cambie on the Canada Line.

An estimated 100,000 people a day will see artist Douglas Coupland's gold-colored sculpture made out of steel-reinforced resin. Called Golden Tree, the public art work will stand 13.1 metres tall (43 feet) in front of an image depicting the forest in Stanley Park

The public art work is expected to be installed by mid-2015.

[...]

Coupland's Golden Tree will be centrepiece of the development MC2, the name for the project by Intracorp. The architect is James K.M. Cheng; interiors will be by Trepp Design Inc.

MC2 will have 443 market condominium, 110 rental units and 836 square metres (9,000 sq ft) of commercial space.

In addition to Coupland's sculpture, the public art component of MC2 will include two local artists in residence studios that will be given to the city of Vancouver.

Somehow I have never noticed thatthere is going to be a grocery store in the podium of the taller building. Any idea which brand might be going in this?

I believe T&T is going across the street, so whoever it is will face some stiff competition if it's a grocery store. Perhaps it might be a good location for a London Drugs, a Rexall, or a Shoppers Drug Mart?

I doubt the space is big enough for a grocery store.

Retail 882 m2 (9,494 sq. ft.)

That's what I was thinking. More like a drug store.

No pictures, but the middle area between the two towers is now taller than the Canada Line tracks.

Quite a different imposing feeling. It will be interesting to walk around the area when 8175 Cambie and Marine Gardens are built up.

Two things occurred to me:
- the number of malls along the Canada Line
- the possibility of future office space given the relatively good road and rail access, and coming small stores or restaurants within lunch hour walking range

The area immediately south of Marine Drive station down to the water is envisioned to be 100% non-residential employment land, preferably office & quality industrial.
