What a fascinating great tour...
Surprising sights in Quebec City of which I had no idea about (just so ignorant...), their pedestrian areas look super neat and enjoyable.

Tes photos me donnent le mal du pays!

Having lived in Québec City and thus visited Montréal a lot, I can say you've made me really want to go back.

You must have needed a vacation from your vacation. I'm spent just having viewed your photos.

Thanks for a great tour!

Remember that debate months ago about how 'horrible' Montreal is? I wonder if those people have checked out these photos. Not so shitty now, is it?

^^ Oh, I think Montreal has got his 'bad places' and disadvantages too, like any other big city in the world.

Thanks, it was a very relaxing trip, so I only had problems with jet lag after coming home. Loved about everything in NYC and Canada, so we definitly wanna go back.

Wow, I've never seen this angle of Montréal. I sense this ever so vague je ne sais quoi present in both New Orleans and Old Montréal. St. Louis might have had a watered down sliver of that if it hadnt been for the heavy demolition.

We take the metro to the Olympc Park from 1976.

The former 'Olypmic Village'.

The Olympic Stadium, after 35 years it's still a jewel.

The Biodôme, the former Vélodrome. Nowadays you can walk through 4 ecosystems.

I used to watch baseball games at Olympic Stadium all the time before the Montreal Expos moved to Washington. No professional baseball is played in Montreal anymore.

It is not a great stadium for most sports, but it certainly looks cool up close at night, especially if its foggy.

Exactly. The stadium (and tower) looks better if concealed by night and fog.

Last summer, I had the chance to work a few night shifts at the adjacent park, and therefore I thoroughly explored the stadium and its surrounding. Its a desolate sight. The huge concrete plazas surrounding the stadium are devoid of crowds 24/hrs a day. The stadium itself and the tower are both showing severe signs of deterioration.

Unfortunately, the Olympic stadium acts more as a black whole than an attraction, it is spot in the middle of some of the country's poorest neighbourhoods, it is far, far away from any shops, restaurants, other interesting sights, and it doesn't help either that is detached from the street grade, and placed in a giant sunken plaza.

Good pictures, though!

I really, really like the stadium architecturally. I find it looks super cool.

That said, it is depressing that it is so bloody unfunctional - it's really horrible for sports inside.

Plus it is probably the worst-integrated stadium in an urban neighbourhood that I have ever seen.
