I'm at a loss to understand the reasoning for the name of this condo being "moon"

Is it the colours of the building or are they just too lazy to come up with a great name like the treblA building down the road on "Albert" street

Because it's replacing a strip club? Could have named it the Lyon Queen

A nod to the heritage of the site, as it used to host a lot of bare bottoms?

Hold on Barbarella's is being replaced by this?? I figured that they would just build the building around the strip club and incorporate it into some kind of heritage courtyard or glass it in like the Bank of Canada....

I'm absolutely certain this is the plan. It will be half in the atrium like Beckta at Performance Court. I'm surprised that Barbarella's and the Glue Pot are not listed in the amenities....

Is collecting singles included in the condo fee?

That block always seems like the last one in the downtown that hasn't been redeveloped. In some ways, looks like an eyesore considering the stark contrast of the old buildings next to the office buildings, hotels and whatnot.

I used to live in the old ramshackle townhouses where Claridge Pinnacle is now. Spent a lot of time at the Glue Pot drinking quarts back in the day. I'm going to have to go in there for the first time in 15 years to have one before it closes!

Opinion

Does anyone know what grocery store will be built (another Sobeys perhaps?).
Also I wanted to gauge opinion if anyone thinks this would be a good investment for a rental property. There are still many unknowns with LRT and Lebreton flats, but I feel the location is great!

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

good to know I guess. I'm at the charlesfort gardens, but will probably drive for more affordable grocery. Would be nice to have a freshco (sobeys chain, I think), downtown, especially for all the lower income renters in the area.

Unfortunately discount banners like FreshCo, No Frills and Food Basics most likely can't operate on such thin margins and incredibly expensive rents.

Sobeys Urban Fresh is the only banner I can see working for a new store in the inner core.. Its the highest margin store so they can afford the very high costs of rent on a brand new downtown space.

I used to live downtown and moved away a bit after the Sobeys on Metcalfe opened. I switched from Independent to that store pretty quickly. Sure its pricier but the quality and experience of shopping was awesome. I actually miss it.. the Superstore in Westboro is basically a suburban store despite its location and it sucks. Doesn't really cater to urban shoppers (the kind who walk in and buy a few things at a time several days a week, as opposed to suburban shoppers who do big trips only a few times a month).

My brother still lives in the area and goes there all the time. It does very well accordimg to him. I'm not surprised Sobeys is expanding the Urban Fresh brand to other major high rise areas. I could also see the concept working for the store Trinity wants at Trillium.

I have lived in the neighbourhood for 14 years and let me tell you it is a food desert. The arrival of any grocery store will be transformative and it will be flooded by the numerous condo residents and hotel visitors in the area. It can’t come too soon!

Got to give credit to Claridge for getting more grocery stores downtown.

It will also be packed at lunchtime with office workers picking up to-go meals.
